Guitar icon Zakk Wylde announced he will be hitting the road with Black Label Society on the Unblackened Tour this spring. The guys take the stage at Rams Head Live in Baltimore on April 8, 2015. Tickets go on sale Friday, February 12, 2015 at noon. You won’t want to miss out on this rare club performance.
Originally this show was to be a one night only concert for a live CD/DVD release, which was recorded at Club Nokia in Los Angeles two years ago. Now the guys have decided to make their way across the U.S. showcasing more intimate versions of some of the band’s most popular songs. Scott “Wino” Weinrich and his unique brand of self-described Sabbath-inspired Doom/Stoner rock is the opening act.
The Unblackened Tour also includes songs from Wylde’s best-selling solo album, Book of Shadows. This side project was Wylde’s first self-fronted project and shows a different side to his music, with an acoustic, introspective style. Zakk will be breaking out some tunes from his Southern rock band Pride & Glory as well.
Wylde spoke of the tour saying, “I always wanted to take Unblackened on the road, we just didn’t have the time until now.” He continued, “You can take a song that you’ve played thousands of times and rearrange it, and all of a sudden it’s something totally fresh. The attitude of the songs doesn’t change when we play them acoustically, the tunes are gritty regardless.”
“Catacombs of the Black Vatican,” Black Label Society’s latest release, was hailed as one of the “Best Albums of 2014” by Revolver Magazine. Zakk’s guitar playing is said to be at its finest. You can watch the video for “My Dying Time” here.
Tickets can be purchased on Ticketfly and are $29.50 in advance and $35 the day of the show, tax included. The Wednesday, April 8 Rams Head Live event is an all-ages show. The doors open at 7:00 p.m. and the concert is due to start at 8:00 p.m. 24-7 Entertainment is running a contest on Facebook if you’d like to try your shot at winning some tickets to the concert.
Rams Head Live is a fantastic venue to catch your favorite acts. If you get to the show early you can get the party started with their Rock Star Bar preshow specials. The Rock Star Bar opens 2 hours prior to the door time offering Happy Hour drink specials which continue until the first band hits the stage. After the show the Rock Star Bar doesn’t stop rockin’. There is an after show Happy Hour and at Rams Head Live you never know who might stop by. Headliners often hang out after the gig.
