Gunnery Sgt. Chris Taylor did not expect to see his wife when he returned home from Afghanistan earlier this month. The man led his group of soldiers in after their return home from Afghanistan, and he watched for a moment as they began to reunite with their families. However, his wife had a surprise for him. The Inquisitr shared the video of this man’s reunion with his wife on Nov. 24.
Gunnery Sgt. Chris Taylor is just one of the many soldiers stationed overseas, and many have returned home from their duties in Afghanistan this month. Taylor did not expect to see his wife at all on the day he returned. He is from San Diego, and he is stationed at Camp Pendleton in California. His wife, Sarah, lives in Maryland.
It is clear in the video that the man did not expect to see his wife. After watching his squad start to greet their own families, he turns to other soldiers and starts to talk to them. His wife soon makes her presence known, and the man begins to cry tears of happiness. His wife said the following about their reunion:
“Because he is stationed in California and our kids and I live in Maryland, he didn’t think that anyone would be there when he returned. But I showed him! I left Maryland Wednesday afternoon to make sure I arrived there in time to see his arrival on Thursday, and then came home on Friday. It was a short trip, but it was the best!”
In an interview with Right This Minute, Sarah revealed that she had been planning on this reunion for a week. The exact return time for husband had kept fluctuating during that time, and she was not sure when she should be at the site to meet him. However, she took a chance and arrived at Camp Pendleton that day. Luck was on her side because she was there when her husband arrived.
Taylor was definitely surprised by his wife’s action because he had spoken to her just 30 minutes before on the phone. She did not reveal anything about her surprise during their conversation. He said that he was still very much in “work mode” after his return. That changed when he turned to see his wife standing there and waiting for him. Taylor shared the video of the surprise reunion earlier this month, and since his posting the video has receiver over a half a million views.
Taylor’s reunion with his wife is not the only military family reunion making news this week. Today.com shared video of a man reuniting with his young daughter. He surprised her at her school in Midlands, South Carolina last Wednesday. The school helped him with his surprise.
On Wednesday, the school staff called a special assembly. His daughter thought the assembly was to celebrate the achievement of students that had excelled in math. An appearance by Piggly Wiggly Pig was made, but this was no ordinary visit. Inside the costume was her father.
Staff Sgt. Joel Specter had spent nine months in Afghanistan. Media reported that his daughter revealed that she did not recognize him at first because his hair was longer, and he looked taller inside the costume. However, that moment did not last long. She soon broke into tears and embraced her father. None of the other students at her school were aware of the surprise.
The month of November has seen a number of military reunions. Members of the military are returning home after long months spent overseas. They will now spend time with their families for the holidays. For some their time overseas is over, but many will return to duty in a few weeks.
