Honey Boo Boo’s mother, Mama June Shannon, is being threatened with a lawsuit for pitching new reality TV shows amid a weight loss intervention staged by “The Doctors” obesity experts. The family’s TV show, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” was recently canceled after news surfaced that Mama June had recently dated Mark McDaniel, a convicted child molester.
A shocking investigation later revealed the child McDaniel had sexually abused was Mama June’s own daughter, Anna Cardwell. Cardwell has since spoken out about her molestation on daytime talk shows.
Since their show’s cancellation, Honey Boo Boo, Mama June and her dad “Sugar Bear” have been desperate to land another reality TV show, TMZ reported. But TLC executives said Honey Boo Boo and Mama June are contractually bound to not work for any other entertainment company until their contract expires in May.
The show cancellation hasn’t dampened their popularity. Honey Boo Boo and Mama June appeared on the Feb. 25 episode of The Doctors, where host Dr. Travis Stork confronted the duo about their unhealthy eating habits and dangerous obesity.
Health experts from “The Doctors” who staged a weight loss intervention for Honey Boo Boo were shocked by what they found in their refrigerator.
“When I looked in your fridge, Mama June, I’m sorry but I didn’t see anything that’s going to either improve Alana’s weight or decrease inflammation in her body,” said Dr. Stork. “She is an obese nine-year-old. You need to take some responsibility here.”
Honey Boo Boo Put On Weight Loss Diet: Is 55 to 65 Pounds Overweight
The 4-foot-9 Honey Boo Boo, who weighs 125 pounds, is 55 to 65 pounds overweight, said Stork. She should weigh between 60 and 70 pounds, explained Stork, a former ER doctor. When asked about her diet, Honey Boo Boo confessed she loves sweets, spaghetti and fried foods.
In 2013, Mama June lost 120 pounds and six dress sizes without exercise following a low-carb diet, Celebrity Health reported. Mama June. who once weighed 400 pounds, slimmed down by cutting back on sugary sodas and doughnuts and ate a lot of chicken, baked foods and cheese cubes.
Honey Boo Boo and Mama June appeared on “Inside Edition” Feb. 24, where Honey Boo Boo sang and showed off a new dance move called the Honey Boo Boo Bop (see video above). Honey Boo Boo rose to fame after starring on the hit TLC reality series, “Toddlers & Tiaras.” She then starred on her own reality TV show, “Here Comes Honey Boo Boo,” from 2012 to 2014.
“Here Comes Honey Boo Boo” was cancelled in October amid reports that Mama June had recently been dating a convicted child molester who had sexually abused an eight-year-old child. That child was later revealed to be Mama June’s own daughter, Anna Cardwell. Anna is now 20.
