During the joyful celebrations of the Advent season I was made sad when I read the article titled ”Christians and Churches attacked in the West” in Front Page Magazine, which can be read at: www.frontpagemag.com/2014/raymond-ibrahim/christians-and-churches-attacked-in-the-west.
As I was reading about the terrible things that fanatical members of other religions were doing to my fellow Christian brothers and sister, I became both mad at the persecutors and sad that these Christians were going through such terrible persecutions.
I remember reading many Bible prophecies found in Matthew 24: 9-10, Luke 21:12, Revelation 6: 9-11, 12: 11, 17, 13:7-8 which tell of the great persecution of Christians.
I also remember the prophecies in Revelation 7: 13-17 which declare that the Christians who have been murdered for maintaining their faith and testimony of having Jesus Christ as their personal Savior will be taken to Heaven, put in a special place around God’s throne, and they will have Jesus as their Shepherd, who will wipe every tear from their eyes and guide them to the springs of living water. I consider this to be a great reward for the Christians who went through the pain and suffering of the persecution for maintaining their Christian faith while on earth.
Sometimes when I read these articles about how Christians are being persecuted and murdered for their faith I wonder what I could do to help them. Then, I think that one way to help them is to share their stories with other people and ask them to also pray for them.
Another way to help them is to give financial and other resources to reputable organizations that help persecuted Christians around the world.
Even though there is some persecution of Christians in this country, it isn’t as bad as what is happening in many other countries of the world. However, the spiritual darkness of demonic deceptions that could be causing some of the persecutions in other countries is coming to our country in the form of the demonic spirit of lawlessness.
In 2 Thessalonians 3:7 (NASB) the Apostle Paul declares that: “The mystery of lawlessness is already at work.” The demonic spirit of lawlessness has been working hard to deceive people into committing great actions of lawlessness and bringing great chaos in an attempt to destroy the influence of any of God’s principles of living and leadership found in the Bible that are a part of the governing principles of any level of government and they are also trying to destroy our precious religious liberties.
So what are Christians to do when they see the demonic spirit of lawlessness bringing deception and persecution into their area? Christians can use the spiritual gift of the distinguishing of spirits mentioned in 1 Corinthians 12: 10 to detect that demonic spirit of lawlessness and any other demonic spiritual force of darkness that want to attack Christians in their area.
When Christians detect some attacks from the spiritual forces of darkness, they can use their spiritual weapons described in Ephesians 6: 10-18 along with using the name of Jesus Christ to bind the attacking spiritual forces of darkness and then use the power of the Holy Spirit to throw them into the abyss/lake of fire to stay there forever.
As Christians use God’s power to detect and then fight off the attacks by the spiritual forces of darkness along with using the power of the Holy Spirit to live by God’s principles of living as they go through their daily activities, then they will become great beacons of the spiritual light of God’s spiritual kingdom of light in the midst of this modern world that has many kinds of spiritual, moral, and intellectual darkness in it!
