It’s that time of the year in again, time for the Tribeca Film Festival. An action packed week of red carpet screenings and fun celebrity filled parties all around New York City.
Last Tuesday night, Vanity Fair held their annual Tribeca Film Festival party Deluxe on the US Supreme Courthouse portico.
I connected with my party pal Aida Turturro around 7pm. Upon entering we immediately noticed the usual old fashion photo booth was missing (actually, we immediately hit the bar) and unlike last year, Anna Wintour, Mike Myers and NYC Mayor Bill de Blasio were also missing.
The festivals co-founder Robert De Niro, there with his wife Grace Hightower, was in great spirits posing for a slew of pics for legendary lens-man Patrick McMullan (who was sporting a newly sprouted 70’s mustache).
Mr. D’s BFF Harvey Keitel was there, taking time to endorse Hillary Clinton for president, and reportedly had a brief tiff with his wife while walking by the huge photo/press line, which included the image making dynamic duo Jamie McCarthy + Dimitrios Kambouris.
It was fun to watch 1st timer Vanity Fair guests as they spotted Robert De Niro, maneuvering around to get as close to him as possible, acting like they didn’t notice him, trying to muster up the cahones to chat with him, while others did their best to stay near him in the event a pic was snapped so they can be in it.
NY Governor Andrew Cuomo— Popped in and spent about an hr posing next to several notables as his personal staff photographer Kevin Coughlin snapped pics of his best angle.
John McEnroe— A regular at the party, and was quite pleasant, as he always is, surprised??(guess you mellow with age). John and I discussed the beautiful weather (compared to last years wintery windstorm), and I began to think ”why am I walking about weather with John McEnroe?” John said it was his favorite event of the festival as he reminisced about when it once served a full dinner.
Jane Rosenthal–In black + white exuding power and class.
Zang Toi–Rocking a man-skirt, blazer + flower pin.
Diane Von Furstenberg— Looked great from the ankles down.
Norman Reedus--He stars on The Walking Dead. Thanks Google.
Ivanka Trump–One word –STUNNING!
Graydon Carter–Ooh that hair!
Debi Mazar –Ooh those eyes!
Gayle King–Ooh those buns!
Lets not forget the models, Irina Shayk, Joan Smalls,Constance Jablonski and Lindsay Ellingson who completed the guest-list. I’m not sure if they were super, but they were certainly out of this world!
In addition to the classy top shelf bar, and Chef Thomas Keller’s passed mini delectables, I noticed they were serving coffee from Grace Hightower’s company Grace Hightower & Coffees of Rwanda. The always Grace-ious hostess proclaimed ”It’s delicious iced! ” I can tell you first hand that it is, and it goes great with Baily’s (or any other booze for that matter).
All this food and beverage had to be relieved somewhere. Escorts lined up inside the courthouse to bring party-goers down the hall and up an elevator to the bathrooms, and waited outside for them to finish their business to take them back — talk about pressure!
The party thinned out quickly at around 9:15. Celebs like to avoid being the last person there. I suppose it’s part of their secret protocol. Always remember, when attending any party, make sure you’re never the first one in or out!
