Rosie O’Donnell slammed a cable news network earlier this week, but now “The View” co-host is getting slammed by people at her own network. On Wednesday, the 52-year-old talk show host accused Fox News of inciting “a lot of hate,” according to The Wrap , but a source close to the show says O’Donnell isn’t exactly loved on “The View” set over at ABC, either.
An insider told the New York Daily News’ Confidenti@l that O’Donnell has been micromanaging everything on the ABC chat fest since her return earlier this year, and she has flat-out refused to appear with certain people on the show, going so far as to cross previously confirmed guests off of the schedule. Another source accused the comedian of being “basically bipolar in the way that she interacts with the staff.”
It’s not the first time he returning “View” co-host has been accused of calling the shots. In July former co-host Elisabeth Hasselbeck accused O’Donnell of plotting to take over the show that Barbara Walters created. According to Deadline, during a call with “Fox & Friends,” Hasselback said O’Donnell was “coming back with a bunch of control, ready to regain ‘The View’ with a seat at that table.”
The conservative co-host also revealed that O’Donnell bragged that she “produced” last spring’s Barbara Walters farewell show that had all of “The View” co-hosts assembled on the same stage for the first time in the show’s 17-year history. “She walked around with a lot of control and then when I had the chance to talk to her, Rosie herself, told me, on-set while we were mic-ed up, that she produced the reunion show to have everybody together and that it was her idea,” Hasselbeck ranted. “Now, do you think the woman who left the way that she did would be producing Barbara’s goodbye show? Here’s the shocker, it was actually her ‘Hello Show.’”
The “Fox & Friends” host also said that Whoopi Goldberg, the longtime moderator of “The View,” would have a problem with Rosie calling the shots. And just a few weeks into O’Donnell’s September return, Radar Online revealed that Goldberg and O’Donnell butted heads in front of the live audience after Goldberg cut to commercial while O’Donnell was talking. O’Donnell allegedly took a microphone and addressed Goldberg in front of the audience, but Goldberg wasn’t having it, telling the returning host: “I told you to leave it alone and you just don’t want to listen. If you want to go there, Rosie, I will, damn it. I’m really sick of your s—!”
O’Donnell and Goldberg have reportedly been at odds for months because O’Donnell wants her old job back as moderator on the daytime talk show. “The View” airs weekdays on ABC.
