Jesus was married to Mary Magdalene and had two kids with the spiritual figure of the New Testament? That may be sacrilegious news to many people, but a new book called “The Lost Gospel” claims that Jesus Christ did indeed have a wife and a pair of children birthed by Mary Magdalene. The New York Daily News also reports this Tuesday, November 11, 2014, that the authors of this contentious text are saying Jesus also survived a number of dangerous assassination attempts.
For many, arguing that Jesus was married violates what is written in the Bible. However, author Simcha Jacobovici and Professor Barrie Wilson say they have found a new text which may reveal that Jesus Christ had a wife in Mary Magdalene and was the father of at least 2 children. The controversial book, entitled “The Lost Gospel,” also contends that Jesus was not crucified but managed to raise his family, all the while trying to escape from assassins.
This new “gospel” will be official released this Wednesday to the public, and its allegations regarding Jesus Christ and his relationship with Mary Magdalene are nothing short of shocking. Jacobovici and Wilson allege that their research has led them to conclude Jesus may have had a wife, the former prostitute Mary Magdalene, and then had 2 kids together.
“According to the document that we uncovered, sometime during this period he became engaged, got married, had sexual relations and produced children,” the book states. It goes on to say that Jesus had a much longer life than previously known, which may not have ended on the cross.
The authors asserting that Jesus was married are also stating in “The Lost Gospel” book that Christ was nearly killed several times in various assassination endeavors. Several of these attempts were said to be directed at Mary Magdalene as well, one of which allegedly took place before Jesus even reached his 21st birthday.
As provided in a new report from I09 News this evening, the authors are not trying to contend the Bible has mislead readers, but are shedding light on new “evidence.” They say that based on their new gospel findings, Jesus was in fact a well-established man who not only had spiritual connections, but was also linked with several political entities in the Roman Empire, making him a prime target for these attempted slayings.
Dr. Barrie Wilson of York University and Simcha Jacobovici, an Israeli-Canadian author, are set to publish their new book this week. The men are backing their allegation of Jesus being married and having a wife to a “translation” of an ancient text discovered within the British Library.
The manuscript in question is called the “Ecclesiastical History of Zacharias Rhetor,” which was delivered to Great Britain back in 1847 after having been unearthed in an Egyptian monastery. The text is said to reveal a number of previously unknown secrets about Jesus Christ and his purported family life. The authors are currently under fire by quite a few critics, though the pair asserts that they are only reporting on the text itself. They acknowledge that the document never specifically mentions Jesus Christ, but a character by the name of Joseph appears similar in context, and that Joseph’s wife may in fact have been Mary Magdalene.
“Before anyone gets his/her theological back up, keep in mind that we are not attacking anyone’s theology. We are reporting on text,” Jacobovici wrote in a statement to the press.
Do you believe that Jesus was married and that the points made in “The Lost Gospel” may in fact be true? It seems contrary to everything that Christians know about Jesus Christ to say that he had a wife in Mary Magdalene and fathered at least 2 kids. While many look to the Son of God as a spiritual figure, these authors seem to view the human side of him most closely.
