Angelina Jolie had a wedding gift in mind for Brad Pitt. The woman wanted to do something very special for her new husband, and she was willing to spend a hefty sum to show Pitt just how much she loved him on their wedding day. TMZ reported on Jolie’s wedding gift plans on Nov. 8.
What did Angelina Jolie almost buy Brad Pitt? Jolie contacted L.A. Police Commission President Steve Soboroff about his collection of typewriters that have been used by a number of famous people. She initially asked the man about the typewriter once used by Tennessee Williams, but the man was not willing to part with that special item.
Jolie did not give up though. She then proceeded to ask the man about the typewriter he owned that once belonged to Ernest Hemingway. The writer owned the Underwood typewriter at the time of his suicide, and it was the typewriter the man used to write many of his classic works. This includes his novel “For Whom the Bell Tolls.”
Jolie offered the man $250,000 for the typewriter, and the man agreed to the sale. She proceeded to send him a deposit of $11,000, but she did not follow through on the purchase. The actress changed her mind on the gift. At that time, she did not even ask for the deposit back, but the man returned her check anyway.
Pitt’s actual wedding gift was never revealed, but Jolie did share some more details about their wedding and what it feels like to be married to the actor in a recent interview with Vanity Fair. Jolie and Pitt married after eight years of dating. Some thought this Hollywood couple would never officially tie the knot, but their children pushed the couple to marry. Their children even contributed to their wedding vows, according to Jolie. She revealed the following:
“They did not expect us never to fight, but they made us promise to always say, ‘Sorry,’ if we do. So they said, ‘Do you?,’ and we said, ‘We do!’”
As for being married to Brad Pitt, the actress revealed that it does “feel different” to be married him. She even called it “nice” in the Vanity Fair interview. During the interview, the actress also revealed she might consider a position in politics in the future. She said the following about her political chances:
“When you work as a humanitarian, you are conscious that politics have to be considered. Because if you really want to make an extreme change, then you have a responsibility, but I honestly don’t know in what role I would be more useful—I am conscious of what I do for a living, and that [could] make it less possible.”
Could her career as an actress stop her from obtaining a political office? Some might look at Ronald Reagan as an example of how an actor can make it in politics. Right now, Jolie’s focus is on her film work. “Unbroken” is set for release soon, and the actress has been filming a new movie with Brad Pitt. The pair last worked together for “Mr. & Mrs. Smith.” Photos of them on set together surfaced late last month.
