Julie Andrews attended the Oscars on Sunday night after Lady Gaga performed her song, “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music.” According to a report by E! Online on Feb. 23, after Gaga performed a tribute for the 50th anniversary of the legendary “The Sound of Music” musical, Julie Andrews showed up to the Oscars and even went on stage to thank Gaga for the tribute.
However, before the wonderful acknowledgement from Andrews to Gaga, Andrews was being interviewed by Kelly from “Live! with Kelly and Michael” during their after Oscars special. Ripa says to Andrews, “This is Gelman’s tribute to that movie. This is the Red Room. We made a Red Room back here…We’re not gonna spank anybody here.” After this from Ripa, Andrew’s answers her saying, “Oh, well. I’d like it if you would.” Yes, Julie Andrews said this to Kelly Ripa. The 79 year old iconic actress from The Sound of Music said this! Apparently, the actress hasn’t even seen “50 Shades of Grey” yet, but she wouldn’t mind being spanked!
After she said this to Ripa, Andrews made this nice acknowledgement to Gaga for performing her song the way she did. She had this to say to Gaga on stage after her heartfelt performance. “Dear Lady Gaga, thank you for that wonderful tribute. It really warmed my heart. It’s hard to believe that 50 years have gone by since that joyous film was released. I blinked and then suddenly here I am. I think that I do speak for everyone connected with the movie when I say we all really felt blessed to have been a part of it. And as for me, well, how lucky can a girl get?”
According to Access Hollywood, Gaga not only performed “My Favorite Things” from “The Sound of Music” but she also performed other songs from the musical including “Do Re Mi,” “Edelweiss,” as well as “Climb Ev’ry Mountain.” After Gaga performed these wonderful songs from the musical, she and Andrews became friends. Indeed, Gaga’s performance brought on a strong bond between the two singers.
