Bruce Jenner is going through an emotional and physical transformation during his rumored sex change transition to a woman, but his daughter Kendall Jenner loves and supports him unconditionally.
“I love my dad. He’s always been there for me and my sisters,” Us magazine reported Kendall as saying. “He’s a wonderful man. And just because he’s changing shoes now, so to speak, doesn’t make him less wonderful. I will always love my dad, whether he’s a man or a woman.”
Kendall later denied confirming Bruce Jenner’s sex change in an angry tweet March 18, writing: “How is it legal for someone to ‘quote’ someone and publish it if in fact you never said what was quoted?”
On March 19, Us magazine issued a retraction after initially standing by its quotes:
“When Ms. Jenner denied, via Twitter, that the interview took place, Us Weekly immediately reached out to the freelance reporter. He stood by the interview, and continues to maintain that the quotes are accurate.
However, after attempting to reconfirm his account, editors of Us have concerns about the veracity of this interview and the circumstances under which it was obtained. We would like to retract the story entirely and have removed it from our website. We sincerely apologize to Ms. Jenner and her family.“
Got Nose Job After Flattening Adam’s Apple: Breast Implants May Be Next
Bruce is reportedly moving forward with his sex change transition by getting plastic surgery to make his nose look more womanly, according to TMZ. Jenner, who is undergoing hormone therapy, got a laryngeal shave in January 2014.
The laryngeal shave, a plastic surgery procedure that flattens the Adam’s apple, is usually a precursor to a sex change operation.
In recent months, Bruce’s increasingly feminine appearance has fueled speculation he got lip injections and will soon get breast implants. Jenner got a nose job and a partial face lift in 1984, and a second corrective face lift in 2009.
Bruce plans to undergo sex change surgery this summer. After he transitions to a woman, Jenner will be a lesbian, as he plans to date women.
Bruce has reportedly been getting therapy to prepare for his transition, but recently increased his sessions to cope with the emotional fallout of the Feb. 7 car accident that left one woman dead.
Legal experts say Bruce is unlikely to be charged with criminal manslaughter charges because he was not drinking, speeding or texting before the car accident. However, the former Olympic gold medalist could be forced to pay millions in a civil wrongful death lawsuit.
Jenner recently stopped filming the docu-series chronicling his sex change, saying he wants to wait until his sons are comfortable with his transgender transition. However, the former Olympic gold medalist is moving forward with his gender reassignment surgery and TV interview with Diane Sawyer.
Sources said Jenner felt pressured by producers to finish shooting the docu-series so it could air in May, but he has no intention of rushing production of such a delicate subject matter.
Jenners and Kardashians Feuding Over Bruce’s Sex Change
Bruce’s decision to go public with his sex change transition has caused a rift between the Kardashian and Jenner families.
Bruce’s sons, Brody, Burt and Brandon Jenner, have been at odds with Kris Jenner and her daughters, Kim, Khloe and Kourtney Kardashian. Bruce and Kris divorced in 2014 after 23 years of marriage. Kris, who called the shots in their marriage, is reportedly furious that Bruce’s sex change has garnered so much negative attention.
Meanwhile, Bruce is happy to finally be himself after hiding his transgender issues for decades. Jenner has known he was transgender since the age of five and has been cross-dressing for years, said his ex-wife, Chrystie Scott.
Bruce, who won the Olympic gold medal in the decathlon in 1976, hid his gender identity issues out of shame, Celebrity Health reported. LGBT (lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender) advocates have expressed their support for Jenner, whom they believe can shine a spotlight on gender identity issues that have been the source of shame and suicide among the LGBT community.
Bruce, who has been divorced three times, plans to date women after his gender reassignment even though he will live his life as a woman. For now, Jenner is thrilled about this new phase of his life.
“Bruce has come out to those closest to him,” said a family friend. “He’s so happy and excited. He gets to lay down a huge bag of bricks. He’s been through a dark period and is coming out on the other side.”
