Kendra Wilkinson recently lost 22 pounds while competing on the reality TV competition “I’m a Celebrity …. Get Me Out of Here!” Wilkinson’s weight loss comes shortly after she lost 55 pounds on a low carb ketogenic-style Atkins diet after giving birth to her second child.
Kendra flaunted her dramatic weight loss on Instagram Dec. 8 and said she was excited to show off her hot new physique to her husband, former NFL star Hank Baskett. “I can’t wait to get home and show Hank my new body and my new confidence,” said Wilkinson. “I want to get back to a lot of sex. I’m going to jump all over him.”
On “I’m a Celebrity,” Kendra competed against 15 other stars in a series of challenges set in an Australian jungle camp. The former Playboy model, a longtime workout fanatic, is thrilled with her recent weight loss.
Earlier this year, Wilkinson lost 55 pounds on low carb ketogenic-style Atkins diet. The 5-foot-4 Kendra, whose pre-pregnancy weight was 120 pounds, weighed 175 pounds during her second pregnancy, but is now back at her pre-baby weight.
Another celebrity mother who lost a dramatic amount of weight on the low carb Atkins diet is Kim Kardashian, who lost 56 pounds in six months on a ketogenic-style diet that limited her daily carb intake to less than 60 grams, Celebrity Health reported.
Low carb diets such as the Atkins, Paleo and ketogenic plans promote rapid weight loss by forcing the body to burn fat for fuel, said obesity expert Dr. Eric Westman, co-author of Keto Clarity.
Wilkinson said she was surprised how hard it was to lose the baby weight. “I’m an athlete, so I thought I would lose the weight so fast right after having the baby, but I didn’t,” said Kendra, who also has a four-year-old son, Hank Baskett IV. “I learned the pounds don’t just shed off. You have to go on a diet and really take care of your body.”
In June 2014 (one month after she gave birth), Wilkinson’s world was rocked amid reports that her husband, Hank Baskett, had cheated on her with a transsexual model. The news was all over the tabloids, and the ensuing drama was captured on her reality TV show, “Kendra on Top.”
Wilkinson recently revealed she considered suicide after the cheating scandal. “I was at a real low,” said Kendra. “I even questioned my life. If it wasn’t for breastfeeding Alijah, the bond I had with her, I feel like I would have probably ended my life.” Wilkinson said she and Baskett are working on their marriage and she’s doing better now.
Wilkinson recently confessed she struggled with low self-esteem after gaining so much baby weight. During her youth, Kendra also battled drug addiction and suicidal depression.
Wilkinson was addicted to crystal meth, cocaine and LSD as a teen and almost died from a drug overdose at age 14. At one point, Kendra tried to commit suicide by overdosing on an entire bottle of pills. She was hospitalized for two weeks in a white rubber room at a psychiatric hospital. Wilkinson has been drug-free ever since.
