Family-to-Family, Inc. (FTF), a grassroots nonprofit 501 (c)(3) organization, has not one but two separate charitable campaigns going on this holiday season. Their “Give It Up For Kids In Need” – Empathy Campaign and their Calendar of Giving Campaign are both getting underway.
While this great charitable organization provides hunger and poverty relief for American families struggling from these matters, they are also open to teaching these concepts to Americans of all ages. Family-to-Family provides much needed food and personal hygiene products in addition to other basic life essentials to those struggling with the challenges of poverty.
Family-to-Family established their mission to bring a large and seemingly troublesome problem into personal focus. The issue is poverty.
FTF brings poverty into personal focus by making proactive decisions and realizing attainable results when possible….one family at a time. By connecting donors one-on-one with specific families in need, they get even more results.
By running various campaigns throughout the year, the focus remains on this poverty and hunger relief organization and on the issues at hand. These two holiday/end-of-year campaigns will be the final two for 2014.
Their “Give It Up For Kids In Need” Campaign asks parents to speak with their kids about how important it is to give up one special gift that they asked for and were likely to receive this holiday season. When the children take part and agree, then the families can either go to the store to purchase the gift to send to FTF or make a targeted monetary donation to Family-to-Family for the approximate amount that the gift costs and FTF will shop for the gift and send it to a family in need that would enjoy that particular toy.
This campaign allows children to get in on the giving process. It is unique in that it teaches kids to consciously think about the value of a gift that they are willing to give up. Most importantly, it teaches them how much one gift will mean to someone that would not receive a gift at all if they were not willing to send it.
The goal of the “Give It Up For Kids In Need” Campaign is to help children understand what true holiday spirit is. Giving and helping others in need is the greatest gift one can ever give!
The Calendar of Giving Campaign is FTF’s effort to make “giving” more than just a holiday or end-of-year project. The Calendar of Giving was developed to help families engage in a different hands-on giving project every month of the year. Family-to-Family suggests families develop creative, out-of-the-box acts of kindness that will be fun to perform and beneficial to those receiving the acts.
The calendar highlights a different project each month. It also offers a weekly timeline of suggested to-dos. This is a way families are able to easily keep track of what is needed for their corresponding project.
While this year’s projects are soon coming to a close, families can begin thinking about what they would like to do for the following year. The Calendar of Giving Campaign makes for a great New Year resolution for the entire family to partake in!
Family-to-Family is always thinking how to make things better for the mass majority. Not only are people in poverty situations helped, but think how much more time your family will be able to spend together performing great acts of charity!
