As the weather steps firmly into the winter season you may looking to get your hands on some warm spirits. There are many to choose from, but Knob Creek has an uncanny ability to keep you warm whether you are sipping it straight or drinking it with a delicious cocktail recipe.
You may be thinking that Knob Creek only has its standard bourbon to offer and nothing else, but they actually have more than a few different choices. They have Knob Creek Single Barrel Reserve and Knob Creek Straight Rye Whiskey to support its traditional bourbon, but the alternative we’d like to share sometime talking about today is Knob Creek Smoked Maple.
Knob Creek Smoked Maple is a sturdy, full bourbon that sports a copper presentation. Once you indulge in a taste of the bourbon, you are immediately greeted with strong, smoky, sweet notes, which are all complimented by vanilla senses as well. The latter is not as noticeable as the smoke and sweetness, however.
While enjoying Smoked Maple by itself is a personal method of consumption, some of you may be looking for another avenue for experiencing it. Allow us to introduce you to the Smoked Maple Old Fashioned. Created by Michael Symon, you will need to have Knob Creek Smoked Maple, bitters, raw sugar, club soda, an orange slice and cherry in order to create one of these.
First, make sure you have a rocks glass on hand so you can muddle together a small pinch of sugar with two or three bitters. Once you have done this, add in two parts Knob Creek Smoked Maple as well as ice. While doing this make sure you are stirring all of the contents to ensure proper balance. Finally, add a splash of club soda on top and you can garnish the drink with an orange slice and cherry if you want.
Now if you’re someone who wishes to enjoy a cocktail featuring Knob Creek’s Kentucky Straight Bourbon Whiskey, then we have another recipe to share with you. This particular beverage is called a Knob Creek Mulled Old Fashioned, and it isn’t too drastically different from the Smoked Maple we just discussed. To create this drink you will need Knob Creek Kentucky Straight Bourbon, Mulled Demerara Syrup, Angostura Bitters and an orange peel.
If you’re wondering how to make Mulled Demerara Syrup, we have some steps to assist you in that process. First, dissolve two teaspoons of mulling spice into two cups of water. Once you have done this, go ahead and pour in Demerara sugar. Then place the contents over a heated stove until everything is completely dissolved.
Now that you have everything you need, start by adding in two parts Knob Creek Bourbon, one third parts Mulled Demerara Syrup and four dashes of Angostura Bitters all into a rocks glass containing ice. Stir everything up until you feel it has the right consistency and then go ahead and garnish the drink with an orange peel.
Those cocktails and the bourbon variety Knob Creek has to offer should get you started in the right direction this holiday season. With this week being Thanksgiving, Happy Thanksgiving to you and yours!
