The Lutheran Church Charities (LCC) intervenes on the behalf of people in need all around the United States in a variety of ways. Tim Hetzner, President of LCC, reached out to their public supporters with a special appeal – this time to help an eight-year-old girl that was sexually abused. The child is the granddaughter of an NID Lutheran Church Principal.
Many times when a child is molested, they suppress the memories. This is what has happened to this young girl. The molestation, allegedly by her biological father during the Christmas holiday, has recently surfaced when the girl spoke to a counselor.
The scariest part was that not only was the visit last December supposed to be supervised by the child’s grandparents, but now the father is seeking full custody out of state. This means that the case is complicated. It will take a good deal of money to go to court and fight the custody battle – and to prove the molestation happened. This will put this young girl through even more trauma than she has already faced. LCC wants to do whatever is possible to ensure this child’s safety and mental and physical well-being.
Even though the abuse has been documented, it will take funds to fight against the father’s request for custody. That is why this charitable organization is doing everything they can, including their appeal, to help raise the money needed to keep the child in counseling and fight for her rights. They do not want to see the safety of the child garnered simply because a potential out-of-state molester, biological father or not, wants rights he does not deserve with a child he has harmed in the worst possible way that a father could ever hurt their child!
Not only will the fight take time and prayer, it will take cold hard cash. Click here to donate to help the Abuse Victim Fund. Other ways to donate include:
