Have you ever gone skiing at midnight? Have you ever wanted to? Then come out for the New Year’s Eve celebrating happening at Liberty Resort on Dec. 31.
Spending your New Year’s Eve at Liberty is a wonderful way to ring in 2015 whether you’re a skier or not. There is plenty going on throughout the evening to enjoy for everyone in the family.
For those that do enjoy the idea of late-night frolicking, Liberty Mountain Resort is offering late-night skiing and snowboarding, available until 1 a.m. Unfortunately, due to milder weather conditions, the original snow-tubing slated to take place at this time at Boulder Ridge has been cancelled. But there is still plenty to do around the resort.
The events and activities taking place at Liberty offer up loads of festive family fun. But sometimes childcare is required. Thankfully, Liberty Resort offers onsite playcare on New Year’s Eve, available from 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. While you take a little recess, rest assured that your children are well taken care of and entertained with a number of activities to keep them satisfied. Please note, there are no separate rooms available for sleep time. However, portable cribs and napping mats are available for children who need resting time. If you elect playcare, reservations are required and may be made by calling 717-642-8282 ext. 3400.
As previously stated, there are plenty of onsite activities to keep everyone satisfied throughout the evening. One activity you’re not likely to want to miss this year is a visit to the Heavenly Room to see (and possibly ride) the Mechanical Shark. Provided by Phantom Shadow Entertainment, visitors are welcome to come, get in on the action, and see if they can hold on to the Great White mechanical shark. There is no cost to participate, however, a signed release form is required in order to participate. Children are not excluded from riding, but those under the age of 18 must have a parent’s signature in order to ride. The Mechanical Shark will be available between 7 p.m. and 11 p.m.
The bulk of the indoor party festivities will take place in the Alpine Room and Alpine Market between 7 p.m. and 12:30 a.m. Kids will enjoy activities like face painting, games, magic shows with Magician Rick Reed, a DJ, and an endless night of dancing. Free party favors will be given out too. If you’re not on the slopes, and have decided on spending the evening inside, there is no better location to be than in the Alpine Room which hosts some of the best seats in the house to see the fireworks display that will light up the night at the stroke of midnight.
The Alpine room will also be the site for a special late-night buffet, available at 10 p.m. The buffet will include BBQ Meatballs, Mild Buffalo Wings, Spinach Artichoke Dip, Southwestern Chicken Quesadillas, Bagel Pizza, Chili Bar, Mini Tacos, Ice Cream, and an Assorted Dessert Bar. There is no cover charge, and reservations are not necessary. Ticket prices are $12.50, all-you-can-eat for adults, and $8.50, all-you-can-eat for kids ages 6 to 12. Children under 5 are free with one paying adult. Buffet tickets may be purchased onsite during the event.
For those looking for a nice slopeside sit-down dinner with family and/or friends, you may choose an evening at McKee’s Tavern. Come out and enjoy a scrumptious four-course dinner special between 9 p.m. and 11 p.m. In addition to the special menu, McKee’s regular full menu will also be available to order from. The bar will remain open, serving up hot and cold beverages alike up until 12:30 p.m., as the Freddie Long Band will be performing live throughout open operations. There will be a complimentary champagne toast at the stroke of midnight and party favors will be provided. Reservations are not required to attend the Mckee’s Tavern celebration, but seating may not necessarily be guaranteed for walk-ins.
