S.G. Rogers is back again with a new release. If you’re unaware of her, S.G. Rogers is an award-winning Romance and Fantasy author, a RONE finalist, an EPIC award finalist, and a Readers Choice Finalist. Her historical romance novel, DUKE OF A GILDED AGE, was chosen for review by the prestigious Historical Novel Society. As busy as she is I was able to convince her to take a little time out of her schedule to chat with us about her latest release, MAGICAL MISPERCEPTION. Read on for our …
For readers who’ve never met you can you tell us a little about yourself, so my readers can get to know you?
S.G. ROGERS: As an author, I’m a bit like the Colossus of Rhodes. That is to say, I have one leg firmly set on a pillar of historical romance, and the other on a pillar of speculative fiction (ie: fantasy). Of course, sometimes my historical romances have a whimsical flare, and my fantasy tales are often historically based.
So many of the great fantasy stories are, I’m sure it was an easy mix. Care to tell us a little about your novella MAGICAL MISPERCEPTION?
S.G.ROGERS: Magical Misperception was contracted several years ago by a small publisher who wanted stories of a certain length. The title back then was The Magical Misperception of Meridian. When the contract ended and the publication rights were returned to me, I shortened the title and lengthened the story. It was actually a joy to flesh out the characters and to add new scenes. It’s still a short story, but I hope it packs a punch.
What inspired the story of Magical Misperception?
S.G. ROGERS: The story is inspired by Dickens’ Great Expectations along with a little Cinderella thrown in for good measure. There are no Dickensian convicts, Cinderella-like pumpkin coaches, or glass slippers, but there is a sort of fairy godfather to lend a hand. He’s actually the Wizard Farland, who adores a good love story.
Who doesn’t? :) What’s on tap next for you? Any new manuscripts in the works, currently?
S.G. ROGERS: Next year will largely be the year of the sequel and the prequel. Some of my characters are demanding their stories be told in greater depth, and who am I to refuse? I also have new story ideas to explore, so 2015 will be chock full of goodies.
Sounds like I was right. You are going to be busy! Where else can people find out more about you and your works?
S.G. ROGERS: I’m on Facebook, Twitter, and Pinterest, and a blog. Check out my author page on Amazon for all my titles, in an easy-to-read format.

MAGICAL MISPERCEPTION BLURB:
Young Prince Lee can’t talk to girls at all until he meets Jona Haever. His aunt, Queen Gaia, invites Jona to the castle for the summer to help Lee learn social graces. Although Her Majesty makes it clear Jona is no better than a servant, Jona and Lee become best friends. When the summer comes to a close, the two continue to correspond through a pair of magical boxes conjured by the Wizard Farland. Nine years later, Jona and Lee are closer than ever, but any romantic feelings between them are forbidden by law. Are the differences between a prince and a commoner too large to overcome, or are they just a matter of magical misperception?
