New Year’s Eve is all about shiny, sparkly celebrations. You can’t always get a babysitter on holidays. Still, having kids shouldn’t stop you from ringing in the New Year with pizzazz. Worried about having kids in attendance at your New Year’s Eve party? Don’t panic. You can still get your shine on with these tips.
A New Year’s party begs for casino glitz.
Go all out with shiny decor. Lay some felt down and shoot craps. Get a game of Texas Hold ‘Em going. An open bar and music really put a spark in the evening. Got kids coming? You can still play some casino games. Just keep a few simple enough for kids to play. Invite guests with kids to keep the party family-friendly.
What about that sparkling champagne?
Grown-ups can indulge if they tone it down a notch. Don’t forget the designated driver. If kids are coming, a two-drink minimum might be a good plan. One at the beginning of the evening; one for the midnight toast. Serve sparkling cider in-between the drinks. That way the kids can have something special, too. Fancy it up with twists of lemon or lime for both.
Shiny clothes make New Year’s sizzle.
The ladies might have to cut their sexy back if kids are coming. That’s OK. You can be the girl of his dreams on date night. Of course, that doesn’t mean you can’t sparkle a little on New Year’s. Don a fancy glittering top hat and a sequined outfit that doesn’t show too much skin. Tone down the dirty dancing. Don’t forget to buy some festive clothes for the kids, too.
Make it pop.
Whether you have kids or not, making noise is what New Year’s is all about. Ring in the New Year with all the bells and whistles. Buy all the noisemakers you can get your hands on. The more noise you make, the better. This is one activity that pleases both kids and adults. Do be cautious with those party poppers, though. They’re not recommended for use by younger kids.
You might need your sparkling personality on New Year’s.
You’ll need it even more if kids are coming. Staying up until midnight can bring out the worst in both kids and parents; especially if the parents have been drinking. Parents don’t get out much. They might overdo it. That shiny disposition will come in handy if you have to liberate Dad from his car keys or send junior to bed early. Celebrate New Year’s with enthusiasm. Just keep it PG if kids are attending your party.
