First Daughter Malia Obama, 16, President Barack Obama and First Lady Michelle Obama’s oldest daughter, is still getting social media attention. In spite of circumstances surrounding Elizabeth Lauten, a now-former GOP aide to a congressman, in which she ended up resigning for her negative comments about the First Daughters – Malia and Sasha – there has been another incident. Just days after Lauten criticized the two Obama teens for being dressed as though they were going to a bar and having a disrespectful attitude in their roles as the president’s daughters, a National Football League player began trashing, according to an International Business Times report on Thursday.
Now, Darnell Dockett, the Arizona Cardinals’ defensive end player, made yet another negative comment about an Obama daughter. While Lautner took to Facebook to do her dirty work against the young girls, Dockett used Instagram. Dockett commented about Malia wearing a tight pair of jeans. Commenting on a picture of Malia’s photo in the tight jeans, his comment was simply “Omggg” which, naturally, means ‘oh my God.’ He posted as dreday_4 on Instagram.
If that wasn’t enough, he posted again. The next time, he posted in reference to the tight-jeans photo of Malia with the comment “LmFaooo.” Of course, that social media abbreviation means the expletively engaged phrase ‘laughing my f—king ass off.’
It is less than one week since Lauten posted, received horrendous backlash, and then resigned over her comments about the Obama girls appearing with their father at the Thanksgiving Day pardoning of the turkey. Yet Docket found it necessary to repeat Lauten’s devastating error by attacking one of the president’s daughters again. After Lauten attacked the girls, her past was scrutinized and unpleasantly reported upon. It appears that Dockett can expect the same. There are already calls for his NFL suspension over his social media posts about Malia’s photo.
According to the Huffington Post, however, Dockett denies any wrongdoing. He wrote on Twitter as @ddockett on Wednesday morning:
Yall chill I never said anything about the presidents daughter “not one thing” all I did was report my boy IG pic. Get your facts straight!
Shortly after that, he continued to post:
And fyi people I do have a daughter so think what yA want! I post what I want ESP if it’s funny to me! Seems to me yall need to lighten up.
Some who are criticizing Dockett’s “omg” and “lmfao”-type comments to be ill-advised especially when the NFL has had so many image problems lately due to its sex abuse headlines and more. Yet, Dockett apparently feels Obama’s 16-year-old daughter’s photo showing her rear end in tight jeans leaning against a railing is worthy of comment – comedic or otherwise – on social media. Many disagree. Dockett is 33 years old.
Today.com reported on Thursday that former daughter Jenna Bush joined in the conversation. Former President George W. Bush’s daughter gives Malia and Sasha her full support. She asserts that, like herself, the girls didn’t ask to become the daughters of a president. The Bush daughters were often treated harshly by the media. The unwritten rule is that politicians’ children are off-limits for criticism – a rule that, unfortunately, some people seem to have not learned or simply have chosen to ignore.
