It’s an exciting time to be an American Gun Owner and 2nd Amendment enthusiast and defender of the Bill of Rights! Not privileges….but RIGHTS! Rights granted by our creator enumerated in the Constitution as the Bill of RIGHTS! Yes Rights for all you lefty loon Anti’s out there.
What we are seeing all across the country are sweeping changes to gun rights and laws that are expanding & increasing the rights of lawful gun owners. Despite many state setbacks across the country like in Maryland, Connecticut and California many states are moving to expand gun rights and block any & all Federal Gun Control. This is a GREAT trend and one that will hopefully continue all across the country and in many more states!
This is not a new topic for 2ndAmendRight.org as we have previously reported on this growing trend:
Gun Rights battles being fought & won at the State level
Texas Senate set to pass ‘campus carry’ bill: How common are guns on campus?
While gun-rights advocates and Republican senators support the bill, many student groups and school officials do not. But regardless of the opposition, Texas is far from the only state to consider legislation that would allow some form of campus carry. In fact, it is just one of a growing number.
“Texas is one of 15 states this year where bills have been introduced to allow arms on campus, so it’s been a busy year,” Mr. Pelosi says. “Four states have defeated the bills, so there are 11 states left to work through this year. The biggest are Florida, Texas, and Nevada.”
At least 20 states allow some form of campus carry. However, only eight states have made it a right defined in state law, according to ArmedCampuses.org, a project of The Campaign to Keep Guns Off Campus and The Coalition to Stop Gun Violence. Currently, schools in Arkansas, Colorado, Idaho, Kansas, Mississippi, Oregon, Utah, and Wisconsin are required in some way to allow the carrying of firearms on their premises.
In Illinois which was the LAST state to adapt a Concealed Carry law after a lawsuit challenging their anti-constitutional restrictions there continues to be a HIGH LEVEL of noise from Gun lobbyists demanding end to “Gun Free Zones” which are essentially Killing Zones!
Gun-rights groups lobby for concealed carry expansion
There are 23 different zones where concealed carry is not permitted, including hospitals, public transportation and museums. IllinoisCarry.com spokeswoman Valinda Rowe said that number is too high.
“These gun-free zones are imaginary circles that we draw around ourselves and pretend like a violent criminal or someone who is criminally insane cannot cross that line and hurt us,” Rowe said.
Several lawmakers said they introduced bills to expand where gun owners can legally carry because of those safety concerns.
GOP-Controlled State Legislatures Passing Wave Of Bills Expanding Gun Rights
Similar legislation has advanced in a number of other state legislatures in the past week. In Arkansas, a bill that would allow licensed public college and university staff to carry a concealed weapon on campus passed the state House of Representatives.
The Arizona House of Representatives passed a bill that would let those with concealed carry permits take their weapons into public buildings.
The Iowa House advanced a package of bills that would allow children under the age of 14 to have handguns with adult supervision, allow anyone with a permit to carry a weapon on school grounds and eliminate public access to the names of those who hold carry permits.
And in Colorado, the GOP-controlled state Senate repealed a ban on high-capacity ammunition magazines on Monday, although the legislation is unlikely to succeed in the Democratic-controlled state House.
WINS, WINS and more WINS! Lets make sure that EVERY Gun owner joins and supports one of the many Gun Rights organizations out there so that we can continue to prevent further Infringements!
