Most people know Mark Hamill as Luke Skywalker from the “Star Wars” movies, however comic book fans have grown to love him for other reasons. Hamill was the voice of The Joker in the Batman animated television shows and that wasn’t even his first time to star in a comic book TV show. In the 90s, a Mark Hamill Trickster role was a highlight of the classic “Flash” television series. Now, this week, USA Today reported on Tuesday that Trickster is returning on the new series of “The Flash.”
What is most interesting about the footage shown is that Trickster is older and in prison. Flash comes to ask him for help and he learns that someone is trying to steal his identity. It looks like a perfect chance to show Hamill as the classic bad guy that fans in the 90s loved so much, but then updating the character for the Rogues Gallery of the new Flash. Of course, the origin of Trickster has to be changed since Flash didn’t exist when he was a bad guy in this new world.
Joining Hamill in this storyline is the new younger Trickster, played by Devon Graye (“Dexter”) and the short video clip that the CW released shows that this new villain has a bomb that he stole from Trickster’s secret lair that is big enough to destroy all of Central City. What is even better about this is that Flash’s dad in the series is played by John Wesley Shipp, who is also in prison at the same time as Hamill’s Trickster. Shipp played Flash on the 90s TV show.
Of course, Hamill is also returning as Luke Skywalker later this year in the new Star Wars movie, “Star Wars: The Force Awakens.” For fans excited about that movie, it was also reported on Tuesday that the second trailer for the movie will be attached to “The Avengers: Age of Ultron” at the end of the month. As for the Mark Hamill Trickster appearance, that will take place on “The Flash” on Wednesday night at 8 p.m. EST on The CW.
