Masters of Puppets… if you have not heard of this band let me introduce them to you. Before I tell you who they are let me tell you why they stand out as a band. Masters of Puppets uses their star power to support the military. They do this not because they want to jump on the bandwagon of a cause but because they truly are passionate about the cause. I have seen Masters of Puppets perform for the troops before and here is a recap of what those experiences were.
“Masters of Puppets has toured the world, performing at major festivals, headlining corporate events, and performing at celebrity birthday parties. Masters of Puppets is also proud to be the NUMBER ONE most requested tribute band by the U.S. Military…” Recently Masters of Puppets took the stage at the 9th Annual Thanksgiving dinner for the troops at the Hollywood Bob Hope Welcome Center at LAX. Hosted by the USO, 3 busses of Marines were treated to a day of food, comedy, meet and greets with celebrities and were rocked by the one and only Masters of Puppets.
I have seen many bands do shows for causes, but there are 2 kinds of bands that do this. Bands that want to be seen doing something are those bands that show no passion at the event and leave as soon as possible. Then there are bands like Masters of Puppets. The kind of band that enjoys entertaining with those at the events (in the case the troops). A band that is proud to be doing what they do and a band that feels it is an honor to take part in the USO and all that they do.
“We are doing what we have always wanted to do. This is where are true passion is.” That is what Harley Hetfield told us in an interview before Masters of Puppets took the stage. These were not just words for the media. I saw this band come out into the audience to engage the troops. They also invited the troops on the stage during their final song to sing along with the band. But the band did not stop there. When they were off stage they took time to walk around and hang out with the troops. The band stayed for the full event. They did not just leave after they played. It is actions like this that prove the band really wants to be out supporting the troops and working with the USO.
I could go on and on with examples of why this band is a perfect fit to be working with the USO, but I will end by saying this. I have seen members of this band in other projects, and when they take the stage at places like House of Blues and other venues they rip the roof of the joint. They always play with passion, but when they take the stage for the troops there is something more. The band is determined to do what they can to entertain those that serve our country. They do this from the heart and to serve those who serve us.
