Let’s welcome a fantastic, fresh new writer to the world of paranormal, and more, Elisabeth Hannaway. Her ideas are clean and exciting and read the beginning of her latest creation, a short story that will be featured hopefully in her first book. Great start to a great story Merv! Looking forward to the next chapter!
I slightly, slowly, quietly heard my mother telling me “it’s okay it’s okay” over and over again while I also heard others talking to each other. Then it got all quiet. Suddenly I heard a low beating noise; it was fast then got slower with each passing moment.
I started to see this bright light, I was afraid that I was dead. Everything got quiet, it felt to me as if I was going to get “jump scared” but this time, there was no monster, nothing to frighten me. I started to hear my name being called in the distance, so I got up and slowly started to walk towards the voice when this thing that I was always frightened of showed itself to me. I had always heard its demonic growl lurking in the dark shadows, but now, it stood before me, alive as I saw the creature get up and start to move close to me. Then it just stopped like its soul got tired or left its body without reason.
I screamed while I watched its arms begin to grow, stretching out to grab me. I tried to run, but it felt like it was closer and closer, until finally, it grabbed me. No one could hear me. As this creature drags me in, slowly I started to see a face. This thing was a person that I knew, but I didn’t remember the name. It stopped pulling me in and said, “Meekie?” is that you? I have been looking for you since I died!”
“Who are you? Do I know you?” I asked “ I don’t know my name; all I know is the person I lost.”
“Oh,” I paused and thinking over of what it said. “I’m guessing you lost me?”
“Yes, Meekie, I missed you.” I didn’t want to answer but I started to listen to the voice and it was a man’s voice. I knew this voice I just couldn’t remember the name. “I wish I could tell you that I missed you too; but I don’t know.”
Right when I said this, he grabbed his shirt that was burned and cut. He looked at me, opened his mouth, and then just closed it. He looked down to the floor “Why can’t you remember me!” he said under his breathe.
I looked down and noticed this tattoo he had on his shoulder it was a Cloud with my ‘My Lovely’. He slowly put me down to the floor and hid his tattoo. I was wondering ‘Wow, he must have really loved me.” He looked up at me and told me “I do.”
“What?” I stared at him, I’m confused. “I can read minds. I’m a fallen guardian angel; I get one chance to get you to remember me!” I sighed and looked down at my feet; I mumbled “I wish I could help you”
He replied “You were always like that, you care about people and always want to help” I watched as a little grin came upon his face. He roughly played with my hair. “Ow!” “Oh, I’m sorry, I didn’t mean to hurt you, but I just wish I didn’t fail you” he mumbled softly. A light tear came upon his face. “Why do you say or think you failed me?” “It okay, I trust you.”
Until we meet again, watch for more updates on her story!
