Michele Obama forgot to mention one important factor when serving up the guidelines for her school lunches. It is important that the lunch is presented under the correct lighting because if it is not, it is going to look less-than stellar.
This was the excuse coming from Virginia school officials explaining the nauseating school lunch served to children this week, it looked bad because of the “lighting!” Most would agree that this lunch, which was Michelle Obama guidelines approved, could only look good in complete darkness. The lunch seen above was actually served to school kids this week in Virginia, according to the Fox Nation on April 17.
What kid is going to eat this? Never mind the kids, what adult is going to eat a fish sandwich that looks like it is still kicking? The administrators at Virginia’s Portsmouth Public Schools want you to believe that what you are seeing is not at all what the lunch they served to students really looked like.
According to Boston Newstime, “The School Nutrition association doesn’t think Michelle Obama’s lunch regulations are to blame but they think a funding increase is needed.” It is not known what the increase will do, but better lighting might be on the list of things needing funding!
School officials report that it was the lighting that made this filet of fish sandwich look unappetizing, it wasn’t the food. This picture of the school lunch went viral after a mother took a picture of the putrid looking lunch and posted it to social media. It was the James Hurst Elementary School that served this lunch on Tuesday, according to Patdollard.com.
After the nation sounded off about the picture of the food via social media, the Food Service Coordinator Jim Gehlhoff admitted the lunch “concerns us,” but he made sure to say that it is not as bad as it looks. Really? Most would agree they’ve seen better looking food come out of a dumpster.
Gehlhoff said that it was “poor lighting and food presentation make this lunch unappealing.” Many disagree and feel that if the school had any chance at getting an elementary-aged school kid to eat this, they would have had a better chance by serving it in the darkness!
Gehlhoff said that this lunch “is in compliance with the federal lunch rules championed by the First Lady,” Was Michelle Obama sitting down to lunch with this plate of food? Would this be okay to serve to the Obama family?
The lunch wasn’t just unappetizing, it was downright scary looking to a kid. Could it be that this attempt to have the kids eat a healthier lunch is going to do nothing more than starve the kids for the school day because most are not going to eat something like this. Just think of all the money wasted buying this food and paying for its preparation when chances are most of it will end up in the garbage.
