Disturbances rotating around upper level low pressure over the Canadian Maritimes will be too far east to bring any significant precipitation to the Capital Region. They will however bring some intermittent cloud cover to filter the sunshine over the region today. Despite this fact, temperatures look to be near to above normal.
A cold front and low pressure area are forecast to swoop southeastward from the upper Great Lakes, toward the mid Atlantic and Carolina coastlines Thursday into Friday. A merger is forecast to take place between this system, and strong low pressure area developing over the Gulf of Mexico, that will also be moving toward the Carolina coast during the same period of time. The combination of systems are then steered briskly out to sea by the end of the work week, and look to remain well south of the region to have any significant impact, other than some cloud increase across the lower Hudson Valley and Catskills (and perhaps a light shower over the Catskills as well).
The only threat to the region’s weather looks to be, once again, those weak disturbances percolating and circulating around the upper level low pressure system that simply won’t quit over Atlantic Canada. The fact that the storm system mentioned above over the Carolina coast may serve to bump the upper level system further east with time may bring less and less of a chance for precipitation to the region over the weekend. Though a stray shower cannot be ruled out, especially on Sunday.
Temperatures look to average near to slightly above normal through the forecast period, with precipitation amounts averaging below normal.
