Brian’s exclusive forecast for Baltimore, Washington DC, and Annapolis:
Today: Mostly sunny with some afternoon clouds. Milder with a high in the upper 30s to lower 40s.
Tonight: Cloudy with light snow developing after midnight. Low around 25.
Thursday: Morning snow showers, then afternoon clearing. Total accumulation around one inch. High near 32.
After another frigid day on Tuesday in which morning lows dropped into the single digits and afternoon highs struggled to reach the mid and upper 20s, today’s weather will feature milder conditions under a mostly sunny sky. A weak cold front will approach Baltimore and Washington today, resulting in a milder flow of air from the south. This will enable afternoon highs to reach the upper 30s to lower 40s. Colder air will overspread the region tonight, which will set the stage for a period of light snow after midnight. The snow will be associated with a “southern slider” storm that will bring a significant accumulation of snow to southeast Virginia where 6 to 12 inches can be expected. A moderate snowfall is anticipated over southern Maryland and the lower Maryland Eastern Shore where a few inches of snow may fall. Farther to the north, Washington DC, Annapolis, and Easton may see up to an inch of accumulation, but from Baltimore to the Mason-Dixon line only flurries are expected with no accumulation. Once the storm departs the area, a clearing sky is likely during the afternoon hours; however, it will be blustery and cold with a high only around freezing. Lows by Friday morning will fall to near 10 degrees. The upcoming weekend will feature increasing clouds on Saturday with a chance of mixed precipitation by Saturday night.
