An atheist director butchers the main character of “Noah” into a harsh individual willing to kill his grandchild and under the influence of some mind altering drug. What could be a compelling story of the consequences of evil and sin turns more into a ecological statement with “fallen angels” presented as rock creatures left over from a transformer movie script who helped to protect the ark….what?
Hollywood just cannot deviate from their need to assassinate the character of religious patriarchs, or do a hatchet job on Bible events. When one inspects contemporary religious themed movies that are produced, there is nearly always something seriously wrong mentally, or the character is demented by some devious lustful pursuit of money or sex. Bible events are gutted with secular philosophy.http://www.foxnews.com/entertainment/2014/03/20/kevin-sorbo-why-is-hollywood-so-afraid-god/
Can one imagine acclaimed film maker Cecil B. DeMille doing the same thing with the original “Ten Commandments”? DeMille would present Bible events as the parting of the Red Sea as addressed in the Bible narrative. He would not inject his own philosophy into what may have taken place. There are circumstances in the Bible that are already compelling enough without being spoiled by secular interpretation.http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cecil_B._DeMille
That is a primary problem with “Exodus: Gods and Kings” which brings plurality to Yahweh God in the title as if there are other deities. This is a story about the Hebrews being liberated by the God of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob is it not? One also does not need to present shallow water as an explanation for the Jews crossing over the Red Sea. De-emphasizing or changing miracles trivializes what God did through Moses in one of the most spectacular displays of salvation in the Bible when the Red Sea was supernaturally parted. Contrary opinions are irrelevant to the Genesis account if one wants to tell the story.
However legitimacy and even enhancements are routinely given to the evil arts when theatrical productions are created regarding the stories of evil.
When one takes inventory of the depiction of werewolves, vampires, or satanically inspired characters, the antagonists are elevated with unbelievable supernatural powers that run roughshod over religious symbolism. Evil acting people are given protagonist status in many theatrical productions.
Damien in the Omen series reached superstar levels while movies as “The Exorcist” and demonically possessed clones produced afterwards had evil empowered people having things their own way through the majority of the movie presentations. The stories lines will leave open the injustice of these evil forces surviving so they can rise again at a later date. Bad people finish first is the consistent theme.http://commonsensewonder.blogspot.com/2014/01/hollywood-glorifies-most-despicable.html
In the new released movie called “Unbroken”, it is a marvelous story about the survival of Louie Zamperini from a life of hell in a Japanese prison camp. Zamperini came back from war an angry, bitter, man and became addicted to alcohol and cigarettes. He verbally abused his young wife as he wrestled with his inner demons.
"[Zamperini's] life was transformed instantly that day… He never turned from what he put his faith and trust in – and…
The obvious turning point of Zamperini’s life took place when he went to a Billy Graham Crusade in 1949 and accepted Jesus Christ as his Savior. This was the redemption part of Zamperini’s life that empowered him to make personal changes and to go back to Japan on a mission to forgive his captors.
This portion of Zamperini’s life was eliminated from the movie by both the script writers and director Angelina Jolie. Those not familiar to the Zamperini story are expected to believe he came back and immediately made all of these positive changes and was willing to forgive on his own. Jolie has refused to discuss why the most remarkable part of the Zamperini story was excluded from the film.
It is pure intellectual dishonesty to whitewash the positive impact Christ has on the lives of people simply because those as Jolie do not believe in it. This is the real Zamperini story which is completely articulated by author Laura Hillenbrand that wrote the book “Unbroken” and revealed Zamperini’s spiritual conversion at a Billy Graham’s crusade. This is the critical decision Zamperini made that changed things for him in his life.
If Zamperini converted to atheism or secular humanism and produced all of these results, one can bet that portion of the story would have been focused upon by the anti-religious Hollywood types. The philosophy that nobody needs God would clearly be heralded; or if Zamperini used powers associated with witchcraft and produced these results, his conversion would be emphasized quite substantially.
Unfortunately secular productions have consistently demonstrated their dislike for God or the positive attributes of salvation in Christ due to the diminished capacity to acknowledge authentic spiritual power.
If enemies of religious principles do not like it, they will either eliminate or change spiritual issues.
