A mom on the phone with her husband starts screaming and the husband realizes that she is being attacked. The mom pleads for her life and husband hears this over the phone, he also hears her crying that she’s been stabbed and needs help.
This mom was just walking through a park and suddenly became the victim of a brutal attack that ended in her death. Her husband sat helplessly on the phone at his home in India overhearing the entire gruesome event taking place in a park in Australia, according to Yahoo News on March 9.
IT specialist, Prabha Arun Kumar, was in Australia for her work and her husband was back home in India. After working late Saturday, she took a shortcut home through a Sydney park while she chatted with her husband on the phone, who was thousands of miles away. The 41-year-old wife and mother told her husband that a strange man was following her and then he heard her scream.
She pleaded with the man to take her belongings and go, but what her husband heard next was heart-wrenching. Prabha screamed and said she had been stabbed. He heard her screaming for help, but could do nothing from where he was. A family member conveyed to the story to the media of what Prabha’s husband, G. Arun Kumar, heard while on the phone with his wife, reports Today’s News Gazette.
Prabha was working late and her roommate said she wouldn’t bother anyone for a ride home, so she walked. It was dark, about 9:30 at night as she took a detour through Parramatta Park in Sydney’s west end on Saturday.
A passerby found Prabha not too long after the attack, she was only about 1,000 feet away from the place she was staying while in Australia working. She was rushed to the hospital, but she lost too much blood and died.
Her husband immediately hopped a flight to Sydney and was helping police with the investigation. Homicide squad commander Michael Willing said that the husband was “understandably extremely distressed.”
Willing continued saying, “Here we have an Indian national who has been in the country for some time, going about her business and ends up being killed in a very vicious way.” Police have released a video of Kumar walking from the Parramatta Railway Station in an appeal for the public’s help in identifying the man who stabbed Prabha as she walked home.
Prabha’s time in Australia was almost up as she had planned to move back home to be with her husband and daughter in April. Prabha’s roommate in Australia told the media that Prabha and her husband and daughter were a very close family.
