Don’t all celebrate at once.
For many, it’s the start of the week, but a sad conclusion to a weekend that is hopefully filled with some rest, recuperation, and getting re-energized for the start of the work week. While it is a blend of a range of emotions and sentiments from the serious to the serene, whenever there is an opportunity to be encouraged or inspired, it can make the day a lot more bearable and workable.
Building upon its themes of encouragement and inspiration, especially for women of color, Sistas Inspiring Sistas is launching a new Monday series to help make the day and peoples’ outlooks just a little more positive and a lot better. In my Thursday (February 5th) conversation with founder Sherry Reed, “It’s an opportunity to share (and exchange ideas), participate, and (even) win”.
Starting on Monday, February 9th, the launch of the Twitter chat series #ChatWithSis takes place. Starting at 12pm, the purpose of the chat series is for the aforementioned population to share and discuss a wide range of topics that align with the larger organization’s focus on enriching everyday lives of everyday women of color, one day at a time and one woman at a time. Under the topical lenses of areas related to philanthropy, positive self-image, networking, business, and community outreach, all who are able to be a part of the chat series are likely to receive a wealth of information in a highly “digestible” manner.
The series takes continues for the dates of February 16th and 23rd.
As an added bonus, those who participate in the live chat series are eligible to win a $100 Visa gift-card. A random winner is selected at the conclusion of each weekly chat series.
“It’s about providing an outlet for women to interact, help address areas of interest and concern, and keep each other encourage”, notes Reed. Given the organization’s track record of investment and support of multiple community-related causes, combined with their ongoing efforts of promoting positive images within the community they serve, this is another means of reaching out to others.
As an added feature to supplement the efforts of the live chat, a beginner’s class on effective use of social media is being offered. The class takes place on February 21st. There is an online class earlier in the day (from 9:30-11:30am) and an in-person seminar later in the day (starting at 12pm); registration for the class is $20 per person (for details, click HERE).
Continuing to make positive headway in bringing people together for some tangible growth opportunities is a clear area of focus for Sistas Inspiring Sistas. The forthcoming Monday series, along with their social media training, are examples of where they continue to do so for the greater good of their target demographic and ultimately, the communities they are committed to serving.
On Monday, make sure to chat it up.
