Born in Espanola, New Mexico young Monica Duran knew she wanted to be an actress as a child. As she grew up, Duran ended up going down a different path, obtaining a degree in Architecture and Interior Design in Applied Science, and working successfully in that field for many years. When Monica Duran was diagnosed with cancer in 2006, she soon made the decision that she would begin creating art. Duran found herself faced with the diagnosis of breast cancer and autoimmune illnesses. Duran, now a terminal cancer patient, has finally begun the journey pursuing professional film and television roles.

Monica’s daughter Destini Duran, who owns Destinista Fashions, has teamed with her mother to create all of the fashions for Monista Arts & Designs. Monica then creates custom leather hand bags and jewelry to match her daughter’s garments. “I thank God for all he has placed in my hands, and I cherish each moment like it is my last. My journey is to inspire others around the world, so that if I can do it, they can too”, says Duran.
