This week the PNE will host Walt Disney on Ice, this years show “Lets Celebrate” features some exciting personalities not seen before in the Disney on Ice shows. Recently choreographer Cindy Stuart gave Examiner an exclusive interview with zoomdune.com and revealed some inside information on what this years show has in store. “You really get a lot of bang for your buck with this show!” says Cindy.
Producers came to her this year with the concept of having the entire show revolve around celebrations. She says she got excited about the concept because it “really lends itself to a variety of musical formats as well as different styles of movement”. For its opening number features Beauty and the Beast’s hit song “Be our Guest” with a colorful parade over 50 of your Disney favorites onto the ice.
Jack Skellington is the star in the Halloween portion “Its one of my favorite pieces I’ve done in a long time says Cindy , adding just because it’s so different”. “I spent time studying the film “Nightmare before Christmas to get Jacks movements, and recreate them effectively on ice”. The segment also features iconic Disney villains such as Maleficent ( Sleeping Beauty), Cruella De Ville (101 Dalmatians), Captain Hook ( Peter Pan), The Hag ( Snow White), and Jaeffar (Aladdin).
For a summer celebration features Lilo and Stitch with a Hawaiian roller-coaster. Another portion of the show is an Alice in Wonderland theme called “A very Merry Un-Birthday Party” . Guests of the party include usual suspects Alice, The Mad Hatter, The White Rabbit, as well as Tweedle Dee and Tweedle Dum. As any fan knows Disney films are notorious for romance, this show features romance on ice with our favorite Mouse Minnie in her search for ‘true loves kiss’. Mardis Gras is celebrated by Tiana and the cast of Princess and the Frog, and the round the world celebration includes events such as Chinese New Year, Japan’s Cherry Blossom celebration, Brazil’s Carnivale (RIO). The entire spectacular is capped off a huge ‘Holiday Celebration’ (PC for Christmas) starring the cast of “Toy Story”.
