The Oscars 2015 live stream online and televised Academy Awards coverage will celebrate the past year in film on Sunday night. Actor Neil Patrick Harris will host, while movies including “Birman,” “Boyhood,” and “American Sniper” will be among those competing for top honors. Eddie Redmayne, Michael Keaton, Julianne Moore and Reese Witherspoon will be vying for top actor awards as odds on favorite to win. The televised and live streaming Oscars coverage will be presented via ABC Sunday night.
On Feb. 21 the New York Times reported that “Birdman” and “Boyhood” have the best chances to win Best Picture on Sunday, while Eddie Redmayne (“Theory of Everything”) and Julianne Moore lead the way for actors. Redmayne has -310 odds to win while Julianne Moore has a hefty -6000 moneyline to win the Best Actress award for her performance in “Still Alice.” That leaves little suspense as it seems the underdogs have a very low chance of winning. Director Alejandro G. Inarritu seems to have the top shot of winning Best Director at -170, followed by Richard Linklater at +105.
Other awards of interest include the supporting actor categories. J.K. Simmons has been touted for his brilliant performance in “Whiplash,” and leads the Best Supporting Actor candidates with a -3125 moneyline. Patricia Arquette is tops for Best Supporting Actress for her role in “Boyhood” as she has -6000 moneyline odds. Bettors could profit if an underdog wins in one of the categories with a heavyweight favorite, but it seems very unlikely that a +12500 dog like Robert Duvall will win.
