On April 27, 2015, filmmaker Justin Loncar announced publicly of his plans to create upcoming documentary film, “Out of the Silence.” It is a film about the facts of cochlear implants for the deaf. Loncar has been working on his new project for some time, but now he is closer to his dream becoming a reality!
Justin Loncar, who resides in Warren, Ohio, is in the process of producing and directing this documentary. Loncar, who is deaf himself, has been helped greatly by cochlear implants.
Loncar’s desire is to create an inspirational documentary on screen for people to understand and get the facts about implants. He shared that many people around the world have been asking and are really interested in learning about such a procedure.
“Whether you’re deaf, hearing, a student who is studying about cochlear implants, an audiologist, speech therapist or doctor, and especially if you are parents trying to make the right decision whether to get a cochlear implant for your deaf child, this documentary is for you.
When destiny calls, will YOU hear it?” – Justin Loncar
A few of the common concerns people have pertaining to cochlear implants:
- Do they work?
- How do they work?
- Why are some in the deaf community against them?
- Can they cause people to be sick?
In addition to addressing such concerns in the film, this talented filmmaker will share success stories as well. People interviewed will include those who, with the help of cochlear implants, have gone on to excel in all areas of their successful lives.
Another reason for this film, according to Loncar, is that apparently there are many people around the world who are against cochlear implants. He sees the reasons for these people discouraging others to use the implants is most likely due to their own lack of knowledge. He hopes to set them, and others like them, straight! In other words, educating the film’s audience is one of his goals.
Other film crew include David Walker who is producing and editing the project with Loncar. Walker has produced local movies for the past four years and has screened his movies at a local movie theater. Todd Maki has been nominated for several awards, and he will be the film’s composer.
Also included in the film will be an “In Memory Of.” It will be in honor of Dr. Franklin M. Rizer, plus Loncar’s deaf father, Michael G. Loncar Sr.
