The town that would rather kill animals than save them. Orange Cove, California.
Please help the Friends of Orange Cove Animal Shelter help those who are helpless. The many stray dogs and cats and animals whose owners don’t want them anymore. Those who have been neglected and abused. They all need you to sign the petition asking that the volunteers be allowed to continue saving the lives of animals. Because strange as it might seem, the elected officials in Orange Cove, California would rather kill animals than save them.
Orange Cove, California, the town that would rather kill stray dogs and cats than get them homes, has been inundated with calls and emails from angry animal lovers (see original article here). The volunteers, called “Friends of Orange Cove Animal Shelter,” who have been barred from feeding, walking and finding rescue for the unwanted animals in Orange Cove (at no cost to the city), have started a petition called: Allow the volunteers to continue their livesaving work at the Orange Cove shelter.
For two years, the Orange Cove, CA pound has been operating as a No Kill shelter, thanks to the efforts of the volunteers. The city has now decided to ban the volunteers and will return to operating as a killing facility. The past two years have cost the city no money and no manpower, yet they have made an arbitrary decision to do away with an incredibly volunteer program, which will result in the deaths and suffering of animals that are lost or abandoned in the city or Orange Cove.”
The letter says:
To:Victor Lopez, Mayor of Orange Cove The City Council and City Manager of Orange Cove, CA
To: City Manager Sam Escobar
To: Mayor Pro Tem, City of Orange Cove Diana Guerra Silva
To: Councilmember, City of Orange Cove Josie Cervantes
To: Councilmember, City of Orange Cove Gilbert Garcia
To: Councilmember, City of Orange Cove Minerva Pineda
Allow the volunteers to continue their livesaving work at the Orange Cove animal shelter. This is a program that costs the city nothing, yet enhances the life of Orange Cove residents, many of whom are loving pet owners.
Please sign the petition and help show the elected officials in Orange Cove that they are a disgrace not only in California, but all over the county.
