The 2015 Northern Trust Open PGA golf tournament is taking place from February 19-22, 2015 at the Riviera Country Club in Pacific Palisades, California, which is an affluent neighborhood of Los Angeles. Here is a list of the prize money up for grabs for PGA players at the 2015 Northern Trust Open.
The Northern Trust Open tournament dates back to 1926, when it was called the Los Angeles Open. Scotsman Macdonald Smith (1928, 1929, 1932, 1934) and American Lloyd Mangrum (1949, 1951, 1953, 1956) jointly hold the record for most wins in the tournament with four each.
Golf legends Ben Hogan (1942, 1947, 1948) and Arnold Palmer (1964, 1966, 1967) are tied for the second most wins with three each. Ben Hogan also won the U.S. Open at Riviera in 1948.
Notable golfers with two wins each at the Northern Trust Open include Sam Snead, Billy Casper, Tom Watson, Gil Morgan, Lanny Wadkins, Fred Couples, and Phil Mickelson. Tiger Woods has never won the Northern Trust Open and that streak will continue in 2015 as Tiger is taking time off from golf. Phil Mickelson is also not playing here this week.
Davis Love III, who will be the new Team USA Ryder Cup captain, is playing at the 2015 Northern Trust Open. I don’t know if Love is a good choice, but it can’t be a worse choice than Tom Watson was last year.
Total prize money up for grabs at the 2015 Northern Trust Open is $6.7 million, the same amount as last year. The winner’s share listed below is set in stone while the other amounts can vary a little bit based upon how many players make the cut and ties.
