New York Red Bulls forward and soccer legend Thierry Henry is busy preparing for the Eastern Conference Finals this week against the New England Revolution. This season will likely be his last in Major League Soccer in America. Now that Henry is in the twilight of his career and he’s done everything he can do as a soccer player, it’s time for him to settle down.
There is no better person with which Henry can do this than with his longtime girlfriend, Bosnian model Andrea Rajacic, the mother of their 22-month old son, Tristan. The three live together in New York City’s SoHo district, a train ride or turnpike commute from the Red Bulls’ facilities in New Jersey where Henry trains.
Henry and Rajacic have been together since 2008. In addition to being a full-time mom and model, Rajacic is a public relations consultant and event planner in New York. She’s also educated, having attended school in Europe and at the University of Washington Mary, where she received a B.S. in business administration with a minor in Italian in 2007.
With someone who is as visible and as passionate as Henry is about philanthropy, Rajacic is a good match for the former World Cup winner. She’s extremely organized and so she dotes on her son and longtime boyfriend, Henry.
“I am extremely protective of my time and I only do what I love. I don’t try to “have it all” – instead I invest my time in what really matters to me, now and in the long run. I try my best to organize what I have to do around Tristan’s schedule and I make sure to get a couple of good hours of quality time each day,” Rajacic said. “My body has become accustomed to getting by on six hours of sleep (a huge feat for me!) because I would rather spend time with my boyfriend in the evening than go to bed early. I’m very lucky to have someone that is such a hands-on father (in Henry) who that supports and helps me the way that he does. And if things ever get stressful, a bit of humor always gets us through it all.”
Henry has certainly had his own trials and tribulations in his personal life. In 2003, he married Claire Merry, a model. They met while he was headlong into his blossoming career at Arsenal (England). They had a daughter and together and divorced in 2007, the same year that Henry signed with Barcelona. One year later, he met Rajacic.
As a soccer player, Henry has scored over 300 goals for club and another 54 for the French National Team. He is widely recognized as not only one of the greatest strikers ever, but also one of the most charismatic players since the great Pele. A statue of his likeness can be seen outside Arsenal’s Emirates Stadium.
A true soccer ambassador, Henry works with FIFA to help fight racism within the sport and has also worked with UNICEF to combat world hunger by appearing in TV spots with other soccer stars to help raise proceeds that benefited the humanitarian organization’s efforts. He’s also been a pitchman for numerous companies, including but not limited to Nike, Gillette and Pepsi.
