Sail away on Friday, March 27 with the friendly crew of the US Sailing Center of Martin County when they set sails for the “Ports of Call” fundraiser at the Frances Langford Pavilion in Indian Riverside Park. Passengers will begin boarding at 6 p.m. and will enjoy cocktails on the main deck featuring specialty “international” cocktails, wine, beer and hors d’oeuvres. To capture a true nautical atmosphere and sailing experience, Captain Jim St. John has issued a friendly order for all shipmates to wear casual nautical attire in the spirit of the occasion.
As the name of the cruise implies, “Ports of Call”, an around-the-world Chinese-style auction will give guests the chance to win “souvenirs” from ten countries: Ireland, Italy, Greece, India, China, Australia, South Africa, Brazil, Turks and Caicos and the USA. Gift baskets will be packed with theme items and may include dining certificates, travel opportunities, wine, and specialty items.
To further indulge, KC Daniel of Associates Auctions in Stuart will be the skipper for an exciting live auction with great travel destinations. A few highlights of the worldwide ports of call include a vacation resort in Acapulco and five nights in a boutique cave hotel, Iconic Santorini in Greece (listed as one of the 101 Best Hotels in the World). For the ski enthusiast, the world-class slopes of Breckenridge, Colorado await with a spectacular condo that sleeps six for après-ski relaxation. Closer to home are trips to Miami, Key Largo and North Carolina.
In keeping with the nautical theme of the occasion, New England Fish Market will be in charge of the “galley” and passengers will enjoy a delicious array of seafood specialties, pasta and other temptations from the countries on the cruise. Come aboard the “Ports of Call” cruise with the US Sailing Center of Martin County and gain worldwide experiences of many shores in one evening. Tickets for the gala are $80 per person and may be purchased online at www.usscmc.org. Reservations are required by March 18.
