A new Resident Evil game and Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 will release in Fall 2015, according to digital games research company SuperData. In a report issued late yesterday afternoon, the company referenced the two titles, stating that it expects to see strong digital sales later this year once new entries of “several major franchises like Halo and Resident Evil come out in the 2015 fall season”. Elsewhere in the report, SuperData also claims that this year’s Call of Duty, which is being developed by Treyarch, will be Black Ops 3.
Naturally, we have reached out to Capcom, Activision, and SuperData to get more information.
Of the games mentioned, a new Resident Evil is the most shocking as Capcom has not announced a new game in the series or the possibility of a Remaster for later this year – despite rumors suggesting Resident Evil Zero is getting HD treatment. Capcom just recently finished Resident Evil Revelations 2, but SuperData believes there are more scares to come.
When we reached out to SuperData for comment, the research company told us that they are expecting more Resident Evil to come this year. With that said, they do not have any information to suggest it will be Resident Evil 7.
Resident Evil, following the success of RE HD Remaster, we’re expecting more to come down the pipe this year, but have no information that points to the release of Resident Evil 7 specifically.
We also reached out to Capcom for official comment regarding the report. Capcom issued the following statement:
Regarding your question, no official announcement has been made.
It’s no secret that a new Call of Duty is going to release later this year. Activision announced earlier this year that the 2015 release was being developed by Treyarch. In the SuperData report, the research claims this year’s release is going to be Call of Duty: Black Ops III. We followed up with the firm to ask about this claim and why they believe this to be the case. SuperData issued us the following comment:
Activision’s CEO made an announcement in February that Treyarch would release a new installment in the CoD series. Since this is the same studio that developed Black Ops II in 2012, it stands to reason that he’s referring to Black Ops III.
We also reached out to Activision for comment. As of publication time, we haven’t received a reply.
