All stress seemed to melt away the minute I checked into the pretty, orange colored cottage called Larchmont Sanctuary Spa for an Environ Purifying Vitamin Treatment from Yumie that was about as good as it gets and includes a special anti-aging mask that hardens and snaps off retaining the form of your face. When she was finished I felt even more serene and as rubbery as the mask she removed from my face (see photo).
Yumie performs a yummy, near celestial neck and shoulder massage while the mask does its magic. Her hands glide over your skin but dig deep into those areas of stress and tension. The pretty, sweet and soft-spoken Japanese facialist uses her own creative techniques during the treatment adding hot stones and flourishes of her well-trained hands to increase the relaxation.
The spa bills the Environ facial as “a treatment is created to purify, micro-exfoliate and rehydrate your skin and assists in improving the appearance of uneven skin texture and problematic skin conditions. The combination of scientifically advanced products and techniques revives and refreshes your skin. Best for: those seeking medical strength corrective treatment for congested, acne, rosacea, dry and/or aged skin.”
Well, it worked, when I arose from the table and went into the locker room to change, a peek in the mirror proved it. My face really did look younger and more vibrant, thank you Yumie. I highly recommend this facial for women or men getting ready to hit the Red Carpet or award show, events, big date night or just need a need a little non-surgical face lift.
Larchmont Sanctuary Spa, formerly Le Petite Retreat, is a peaceful, little urban oasis founded under its new name and ownership by Tina Figueroa, a former tech exec who wanted to broaden the spa’s focus to provide a healthy environment where relationships can flourish. She says that “most couples spend more time maintaining their cars than their relationships.” So she created a romantic little retreat, complete with a magical soaking tub, that can serve as quality time for couples as well as friends and other relatives. There is a full menu of reasonably-priced services performed by top-notch therapists such as Yumie and Nicole (see yesterday’s article).
The calming interior of the spa bungalow lit by candles and heavenly-scented by potpourri provides a wonderful withdrawal from the fast-paced world where you can disconnect from devices and instead of hooking up on the Internet or iPhone, re—connect with your inner self.
Larchmont Sanctuary Spa is located at 331 North Larchmont Blvd., in Los Angeles, 323-466-1028. For a full list of services and specials click here.
