Ultimate Guard manufactures high quality Magic: The Gathering and other trading card game accessories. Their products are just beginning to ship to the United States, and several of the company’s newest additions blows their competitor’s offerings away in terms both form and functionality. Today we’re taking a critical look at the Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Case.
The Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Case is available in five different colors: White, blue, black, red, and green. The Ultimate Guard logo is embossed on both the front of the lid and the back of the box. The lid itself closes very strongly thanks to four powerful magnets. A thread witch matches the color of the leatherette exterior edges along the sides of the trim. The inside of the box (regardless of outside coloring) is made of a similar black material.
The Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Case stores 80 double sleeved cards (enough for a full 60 card deck, 15 card sideboard, and a few spare token cards) or one single sleeved 100 card commander deck. When storing a commander deck it’s a very tight fit. We’d have liked to seen just a little extra space, as a centimeter or two would allow us to fit in a few tokens.
The Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Case holds your deck very snugly, with no excess room on the sides for your cards to move about during transit. The four magnets in the lid make it almost impossible to open on accident. It takes a fair amout of force to open the cover. We dropped the Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Case, spun it, and even vigorously shook it upside down several times with a commander deck inside and the lid still didn’t open. When the the ridged walls of the box are taken into consideration we don’t have any concerns when it comes to putting this case loosely into a bag. It’ll take a significant amount of pressure or weight in order to bend the walls.
The end result is a sexy and durable premium deck box with a high-class leatherette exterior that will be the envy of your opponent.
- Fantastic look and feel.
- Safe and secure closure thanks to four magnets.
- The premium quality of this box also comes at a premium price.
Our Rating: Five out of five.
The Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Box is simply the best upgrade you can make coming up from a plastic flip box such as the Something Wicked Deckbox by Legion Supplies. Unlike the BCW Deck Case LX, your deck won’t jostle around during transit and the four magnets of the Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Box will keep the cover firmly in place. Although the Ultimate Guard Flip Deck Box may be a little more expensive you really are getting premium product and it shows.
