Claudia Jordan, the newest member- aka Porsha’s replacement -felt ignored by Porsha when their paths crossed at the radio station where Claudia works with Rickey Smiley and Porsha does Dish Nation (the television show) with Rickey.
Claudia wondered if the cold shoulder had something to do with her friendship with Kenya and wanted to facilitate a meeting between Porsha and Kenya to air out their differences. Porsha shuts that idea down, “I’m passed it,” she exclaims. Porsha has no desire to hash it out with Kenya. Why does Claudia feel the need to create a kumbaya moment? A potential poop stirrer, perhaps? Only time will tell.
Apollo chugs down a stiff drink with Peter at the new Bar One. After downing the truth serum he starts to reveal a bit much, basically since the first episode. He reminisces on how Phaedra used to be his ride or die chick when they were dating. She would visit him in the projects when he was under house arrest from his first stint in prison. She even spent the night with him on his air mattress. Who knew Miss Prim and proper scooped up a jailbird from the projects? Love can make you do some interesting things.
Speaking of love, what’s going on with Kandi giving Todd free range to dictate the structure of her Kandi Koated empire? Any woman can appreciate her man having her back while trying to grow a business. Maybe even giving her some personal advice here and there. Surely First Lady Michelle Obama gives her opinion to President Obama over dinner, a golf game or a family outing, but does she walk into the Oval office like she owns the place? Probably not, but that’s exactly what it seems like Todd is doing.
Kandi calls a team meeting where she addresses Todd’s…uh…er…her concerns with how the business is being operated. Todd chimes in that no one is on their A game to get Kandi to the next level. He especially feels that Don Juan, manager extraordinaire, should do a better job motivating the other two members on the team. Kandi questions why all her projects are in limbo, no deadlines, nothing completed. “At the end of the day I do depend on you [Don Juan] to make my stuff come together,” Kandi comments. Don Juan sits quietly while clearly boiling from the inside. “And I know you’re probably thinking it’s just Todd saying it but it’s not though.” Don Juan nods so rapidly he looks like one of those bobble head dolls.
Later Don Juan has a one-on-one with Kandi to discuss how he was bombarded at the meeting. “When you get married dynamics change, people get in your ear,” He states. Who’s cutting the checks Todd or Kandi? Don Juan gets emotional when he discusses how loyal he’s been to Kandi. He missed his mom’s wedding and birthday, but planned and attended Kandi’s.
Todd calls his own meeting with Don Juan to air out some differences. Don Juan believes Todd is the root of the problem putting all these ideas in Kandi’s head. Don Juan sarcastically lists Kandi’s successes prior to Todd coming into the picture: Clothing stores, Bedroom Kandi and a successful songwriting career with Grammy awards. “And Todd Tucker’s resume reads…what? I’ll wait on it.”
Todd explains he wants the best for his wife and that the vision is too local and should be bigger. He believes Don Juan needs to motivate the team and structure it in such a way that it doesn’t all fall on his shoulders so he wouldn’t have to miss a wedding or birthday. Todd made some valid points. Hopefully Don Juan, Kandi and Todd can work together in a cohesive and respectable manner.
