Whether you go out or stay in on the last night of 2014, it’s probably a safe bet that you’ll be looking to ring in the new year eating out in Salt Lake City sometime over the holiday so, here’s a quick guide to some restaurants hosting New Year’s dining events.
Avenues Proper: A special New Year’s Eve three-course prix fixe menu for $45 with optional beer pairings with house brewed beer is available. The menu includes Yukon gold blini, beef tenderloin and passion fruit cheese cake. On New Year’s Day, the new Saturday brunch menu will premiere starting at 11 a.m. 376 E 8th Ave, Ste B; 385-227-8628.
Bambara: On New Year’s Eve, Chef Powers will serve the regular dinner menu plus specials beginning at 5:30 p.m. Special offerings include short ribs or veal cheeks with dungeness crab and truffles; kumamoto oysters from Washington with champagne mignonette; endive, stilton and blood orange salad; and buckwheat blinis with caviar. Bistro 222: Serving a special New Year’s Eve five-course dinner menu for $75 per person. 222 S. Main St. #140; 801-456-0347.
Caffe Niche: A special four-course New Year’s Eve celebration featuring executive chef Ethan Lappé’s creations begins at 5 p.m. It will include an amuse bouche, soup or salad option, and a choice of appetizer, main and dessert course options. The cost is $50, not including tax or gratuity. Wine pairings will be hand selected and are available at an additional cost. on New Year’s Day, Niche will be open for brunch from 11 a.m. until 3 p.m. 779 East 300 South; 801-433-3380.
Faustina: Special four-course set menu beginning at 5 p.m. with wine pairings additional $20. Cost is $50 plus tax and tip. Faustina will be closed New Year’s Day. 454 E. 300 South; 801-746-4441.
Meditrina: $22 bottles of wine and $8 build-your-own flights on New Year’s Eve. 1394 S. West Temple; 801-485-2055.Cisero’s: In Park City, a three-course $45 prix fixe will run for New Year’s Eve. Optional $5 dessert.
Oasis Café: A special New Year’s Eve four-course menu starts at 5 p.m. Cost is $40 not including suggested wine pairings, tax or gratuity. On New Year’s Day they will serve their regular brunch from 8 a.m. to 2:30 pm and regular dinner at 5 p.m. 151 S. 500 East; 801-322-0404.
The Wild Grape Bistro: Serving dinner on New Year’s Eve until 10 p.m. Brunch will be served on New Year’s Day from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. 481 E. South Temple; 801-746-5565.
Communal: This Provo favorite will served a fixed four-course menu for $65 per person, with an optional wine pairing. Seatings are available from 5-9 p.m. 102 N University Ave., Provo, UT; 801-373-8000.
