Arrival Experience: Fresh from a complete makeover, the Marriott Atlanta Airport is one of the airport’s largest and most dependable hotels. It is often seen during aircraft takeoff and approach patterns, but it is not until arriving at the hotel that one can appreciate the effort Marriott made in overhauling the place. Shuttles operate frequently between the airport and the hotel, and once there, the bell staff is quick to assist with luggage or simply offer a friendly greeting. It is not uncommon to see bell staff help guests with the lobby’s Internet stations, point the way around the hotel, or simply make pleasantly Southern chit chat. The front desk offers an equally heartfelt welcome, and guests are seen relaxing in the contemporary lobby lounge, which has plentiful charging stations and conversation seating areas.
Dining: With five dining options, no one can claim to go hungry here. Bentley’s Steakhouse is a wonderful surf and turf restaurant that gets busy at dinner when groups are in house. All-day dining at Voya Bistro begins with a sturdy breakfast buffet that ranges from colorful fruit and pastry displays to hot dishes including Southern favorites. A sushi menu is available for dinner, and Southside is a great place to visit for a glass of wine or craft cocktail. Local brews are on tap, which make for an interesting evening of sampling new flavors. A coffee bar and lounge is the saving grace in the early morning hours.
Rooms: The guest rooms at this hotel see constant turnover from transit passengers and conference groups. Surprisingly, the décor looks as good as new. Soft carpeting underfoot matches well with the accent fabrics, but the king or queen beds are topped with thick, white duvets and oversized pillows. Cushioned mattresses are great for sound sleeping, and airport noise is rarely heard. Armchairs with ottomans face the flat-screen cable TVs and spacious work desks that have ample power outlets. A unique system allows guests to sync their electronics with the TV if they want to work on a larger screen. Bathrooms are well-stocked with Thann toiletries, powerful showers with curved shower rods for extra space, and stacks of thick terrycloth towels. Guests staying on the executive level have access to a private lounge for complimentary breakfast and evening snacks. Wireless high speed Internet carries a charge in all except for executive rooms and public areas.
Amenities: Business is the name of the game here, and this hotel sports some of the airport’s most spacious meeting facilities. A business center is open to guest use as is an indoor and outdoor swimming pool and an excellent gym with modern equipment. Many guests will find the constant activity at the airport an interesting distraction from the panoramic windows although views of the surrounding forest are also an option. Atlanta has no shortage of airport hotehttp://www.marriott.com/hotels/travel/atlap-atlanta-airport-marriott/ls, but the Marriott is a reliable staple that has been pleasing guests for decades. Its recent renovations prove the hotel’s commitment to continuing that legacy for years to come.
