Kellogg’s® has recently introduced two new delicious 100-calorie or less snacks: Special K® Chewy Snack Bars and Special K® Brownies. Now everyone can enjoy a tasty snack in a variety of craveable combinations – sweet and salty, fresh and fruity and decadently chocolaty.
We were asked to sample these bars and were excited to receive six boxes of samples. First thing I did was read the labels. The calorie counts ranged from 80 to 100, depending upon the bar. That’s great news since I am trying to keep my snacking to under 100 calories.
The new Special K chewy snack bars come in four delicious flavors – Berry Medley, Blueberry Bliss, Salted Caramel Chocolate and Salted Pretzel Chocolate. Each bar delivers nine grams of whole grains and 100 delicious calories. The berry medley smelled so delightful when we opened the package and its flavor did not disappoint. Although all the bars tasted wonderful, the berry medley is my favorite. The blueberry bliss bar was also another favorite of mine. The guys seemed to gravitate towards the salted caramel chocolate and salted pretzel chocolate bars. They were really good, too, but the fruit-flavored bars tasted especially good to me. The Special K chewy snack bars are sold in boxes of six for a suggested retail price of $2.69. They are available at all grocery stores in Mesa and Prescott.
The Special K Brownies come in two delicious flavors, Divine Fudge and Heavenly Caramel. They can satisfy your sweet cravings for 80 calories apiece. Each perfectly portioned brownie contains three grams of fiber and is made with real cocoa, chocolaty or caramel chips, and topped with a drizzle of chocolaty fudge. They are small, but are the perfect size for when you must have a chocolate fix but you do not want to overindulge in high calorie snacks. They are available at retailers in Mesa and Prescott and are sold in boxes of seven for a suggested retail price of $2.69.
Each of these six chewy bars and brownies is perfect for packing in a lunch box, keeping in the car or even a purse for a quick pick-me-up. They are the perfect snack to tide you over until lunch or dinner. I might even grab one of the chewy snack bars for a quick breakfast if I do not have time to have breakfast.
Since someone is always looking for a snack, we filled our cookie jar with the pre-wrapped bars. It is a much better option than grabbing a cookie and they stay fresh since they are individually wrapped in well marked foil packages.

I give these snacks a thumbs up for flavor and convenience, and will happily enjoy an 80-100 calorie snack without any guilt. My only wish is that they had more protein, but since they are made with whole grain goodness, their lack of protein is just a minor issue for me.
