Spring is here! And whether that brings you joy (at the thought of busting out all of your colorful skirts) or agony (at realizing warmer weather means stashing those epic fur coats!) its time to do something with that wardrobe.
This list is for those who are still stuck in the winter vortex with hints of sunshine, and possibly have not had the time to shop for some new warm weather digs. These are simple tips for the awkward fashion transition times.
Got skinny jeans? Cuff em.
Skinny jeans have pretty much been a staple this winter, but those dark washes may not translate with the spring flowers and sunshine. An easy fix if you don’t want to let go, cuff them. It doesn’t have to be a drastic cuff, just a little bit more ankle exposed will add some spring in your step.
Yea this one may be a “duh,” but there are ways for even the staunchest of minimalists to add even a little bit of color to their look. For example, this spring, try a new shade of lipstick. Pastels of course lend themselves the most to spring vibes; an interesting pale lavender would speak volumes to your chic monochrome outfits.
Finding a statement piece with a great colorful print will also allow you to rock color, without having to dedicate your whole look to it.
Bring back the weird shades.
Spring just begs for playful dress. If you have that pair of sunglasses that you loved in the store, but thought were maybe too over the top for everyday wear, bring them out now. Rock those bug eye, or really retro shades. The added beauty of sunglasses, is that you don’t have to spend a crazy amount to get some great ones. Actually cheap sunglasses allow for more variety and less pain when they become lost or broken.
Dig out your thin coat.
You’re probably still going to be frustratingly slightly cold during this time before summer, so go in an find that awesome thin coat that you rocked every time there was a summer nighttime outing. You know, that great jacket that went with everything and is super chic. When you walk in the shadows of tall buildings and there’s a spring breeze, you’ll be glad you have it. Plus, layers are always a win.
Switch out your boots.
As ever stylish as those boots are, they are not so great when the thermostat goes over 70. Bring out those nude pumps, bust out the strappy sandals, or in lieu with the aforementioned advice, invest in some colorful shoes. Some yellow pumps, or even bright pink ones will make any otherwise dreary outfit pop.
