On Saturday, February 7th, 2015, the Coral Gables Community Foundation will host its sixth annual Tour of Kitchens. Six of Coral Gables finest kitchens will be on the self guided tour, giving tour guests a peek inside some historic, unique and spectacular kitchens.
The event begins at 9 a.m. at Snaidero Kitchen and Design showroom (4110 Ponce de Leon Boulevard) with mimosas, breakfast specialties and coffee. At check in, tour goers will receive the program booklet containing the map of houses and other stops on the tour.
The houses open for tour goers at 10 a.m. and tour guests may visit the Coral Gables’ homes in any order they choose. Each home will have a Coral Gables restaurant serving delicious bite sized samples, as well as a table setter (such as Z Gallerie) and vendor (such as Books and Books) selling kitchen and home merchandise.
In addition to the homes, this year there will also be two additional stops on the Tour of Kitchens. Scavolini Italian Design store will feature cooking demonstrations by an Italian chef and a wine tasting by Sputino Catering. Doctors Hospital will offer a peek inside its state of the art kitchen with bites prepared by the Culinary Arts Program students from Coral Gables Senior High.
One of the main recipients of proceeds from the Coral Gables Community Foundation Tour of Kitchens are the Coral Gables Senior High Culinary Arts Program students. Last year, the Coral Gable Community Foundation assisted one student with a scholarship to Johnson and Wales, helped purchase kitchen equipment for the program and provided assistance in replanting the program’s organic vegetable garden.
The last time tour guests may enter the homes for the Tour of Kitchens is 1:45 p.m. The closing event, at Ferguson Bath, Kitchen and Lighting Gallery (4119 Ponce de Leon Boulevard) starts at 2 p.m. Renowned kitchen designer Julia Johnston will give a talk at the closing on the “ultimate foodie kitchen”. The event ends at 4 p.m.
As a fitting finale to the day, a wide assortment of desserts, as well as Martini Prosecco provided by Bacardi, will be offered at the closing event. New this year is an exciting food and kitchen related silent auction.
Tour of Kitchen tickets are $60 per person and are all inclusive of food and beverages on the tour. Tickets purchased the day of the event will be $70 (provided the event isn’t sold out) and can be purchased at Snaidero Kitchen and Design.
Visit the Coral Gables Community Foundation website www.gablesfoundation.org or call 305 446-9670 to purchase tickets. Tickets will also be available at the Coral Gables Farmer’s Market this Saturday, January 31st, starting at 8 a.m. Look for the booth near City Hall.
This popular tour, which has sold out in the past, is an entertaining event, sure to please foodies, kitchen aficionados and people interested in supporting the Coral Gables community and its foundation. So come, sip a mimosa, try some delicious appetizers and enjoy the wide variety of kitchens on the sixth annual Tour of Kitchens.
