Two soulmates died only 10 minutes apart this week, in the very same room, and thier family believes they will forever be “side by side.” Jobs and Hire News shares in an updated report this Thursday, November 20, that this love story is quite real — an 88-year-old man and his wife, who shared 65 years of marriage together, passed away within moments of the other. It is ultimately up to viewers to decide whether this is just an unusual coincidence or if the ties of fate and companionship are truly intertwined.
In a passionate display of endless love, two soulmates, 10 minutes apart from one another, died in a retirement home earlier this month. After Mavis Stevenson, 89, passed away in her bed, family and friends of her husband Harry confirmed that he died only several minutes later. The couple’s decade-long love story apparently began when the two were teens.
The two apparently were introduced to each other when they were 16, and have been side by side ever since. Since they first met, Harry and Mavis Stevenson were said to be an inseparable couple. They soon married and raised a happy family together. A full 65 years later, the two soulmates moved into St. Werburgh’s House Care home when Mavis’ health started to decline. Although Harry could have kept their home, he decided to also move into the living center so the two could stay close to one another. According to the couple’s nephew, Stephen Cresswell, the 88-year-old man had told him on numerous occasions that the pair “could not live without the other.”
Whether it was an otherworldly connection or sheer coincidence, confirms Sport Act News the phenomenon this evening — when Mavis passed away earlier this month, her husband died very shortly afterwards. And according to witnesses at the assisted living care community, “shortly” was only a matter of 10 minutes or so.
It seems that true love was the reason for this 88-year-old man to follow his wife into the afterlife. The most shocking part about this heartfelt story is that Harry wasn’t in ill health or even sick at the time of his wife’s passing. Apparently, the elderly man began to cry and moan after hearing that his wife had died. Then, after a few tears were said to have leaked out of his eyes, the 88-year-old apparently died of a broken heart — or perhaps simply wanted to pass on so that he could be reunited with Mavis.
“The staff told Harry very gently that she had passed away and said he shed two or three tears. Then they tended to Mavis and the next time they looked over at Harry, he was gone,” Stephen Cresswell, a 65-year-old nephew of the couple said
“It was less than ten minutes later. He was lying next to her in a separate bed at the time. They shared a room in the home and the staff had pushed the beds together the night … Their love lasted and they were devoted to each other. I can imagine them being together now, after death, side by side.”
Only a few days after news of this interesting occurrence hit the Web, thousands of listeners have chimed in on the “soulmates 10 minutes apart” headline. Some believe that there is a spiritual connection between such couples (like the Stevensons) and that they choose to die to be with one another. Others, while not thinking the situation is a hoax, believe it to be merely coincidence. Family members said that in this case of the Stevensons, there was simply nothing that could split the married couple apart. More details on the 88-year-old man and his beloved wife can be found in an earlier report.
“They wanted to be together. There was no way of separating them. They were as close as any couple I have known. They never had a serious argument and were soulmates,” Cresswell finished.
Side by side in both life and death it seems. This “soulmates 10 minutes apart” story may indeed be heartwarming, but it certainly isn’t the first time that something like it has happened. Although rare, dozens of tales have cropped up in recent years of elderly couples bound together my marriage for years — in what many people would call true love — dying within hours and even minutes of each other. As featured in the video above portraying one such example, it seems that when two people are so close in life, they won’t let even death tear them apart.
