Sometimes it takes a few things in mind to get started/take your fitness progress to a new level. For example, joining a new gym, getting a new personal trainer and/or workout buddy and acquiring new fitness gear are some things that can help tremendously. You can’t help to wonder that with a brand new body, the gear must come correct. However, there are strong reasons why quality always triumphs quantity, especially when buying clothes that are too cheap comes with a hefty price, even worse if you skip wearing things that can protect you such as socks.
Exercising with low-quality socks or no socks can be costly due to acquired painful sore blisters. Honestly, some socks are better than others when it comes to reducing these issues after rubbing shoes and sneakers from daily activities. There are so many choices in the market, including ankle socks, crew socks, ankle socks, etc., for different occasions ranging from high performance sports such as triathlons and marathons to working long hours at the office with somewhat comfortable shoes and low impact experience exercises such as yoga.
From my last review, there is a brand of socks that really do care in eradicating some of these problems in order to make your fitness experience a lot better, Balega. Balega is a leading performance sock brand in the running, fitness and outdoor specialty markets, which one of its core values is focused on supporting local communities. This is a follow-up from the previous article we wrote in regards to reviewing the actual socks themselves.
Balega shipped three types of pairs of socks for this review. In no way did they influence this review in any form. As we were given the following socks: Balega Blister Resist, Balega Contour and Limited Edition Breast Cancer Enduro socks, this gives a chance in reviewing the company’s overall quality, performance and durability in regards to their socks. All of the socks have high heel tabs that helps prevent the sock from slipping into the inside of your shoes and hand linked seamless toes. This helps in keeping the toes snug and breathable.
The socks themselves are extremely comfortable, durable after a few washes and have a strong core in both the volume (how well it fits into your feet) and its cushioning as if you are having clouds as shoes. Running wise, it adds an extra spring on our feet, which makes it easy on the joints, thanks to their “soft thread” technology. Not to mention, especially when doing tough exercises such as circuit training, kickboxing and running, the socks’ yarns didn’t rub again my skin at all and there was no signs of any blisters and its development, thanks to the blister resist technology.
Lightweight, vibrant in colors and super soft, Balega is definitely our favorite brand of socks to date. While the price tag is over $10, they are well worth the money and made in South Africa with love. The Balega Blister Resist has the most cushioning and volume among the socks, which is my favorite Balega sock. These socks deserve a lot more recognition in comparison to name brand socks like Nike.
