Dear New York Doll Collectors,
I was thinking about dolls for children. Even though, it’s really a child’s preference that drives the type of doll that is popular, I saw a cloth doll that was quite adorable and durable. The doll’s name is Doll Rubina with Baby. The doll is from a toy company, located in Upstate New York, called HABA, dolls and fun toys for children.
Now why have I chose to write about this cloth doll? I’m fascinated by the colors and richness of the doll’s texture. Just by looking at the plushness of the doll’s form, the pastel like colors of the outfit and the warmness of the doll’s chenille hair, makes it very possible for us all, to see a child, just running to snuggle up to it; doll and baby together. It’s a comforting doll for sure, and the design of clothing, matches what young girls would wear today. Wearing trendy clothing of bright colors, mixing and matching them.
Doll Rubina, is wearing a trendy, soft baby blue jacket, with circular designs on them. Underneath the jacket, she is wearing a lime green T, with large polka dot (or polka spots) in a darker shade of green. Then to complete the outfit, the doll is wearing a soft red polka dot, pleated skirt. And how lovely to match it all with a pair of red Maryjane shoes.
Doll Rubina is also wearing a baby carrier, which is swung over her neck, like a purse. The color of the carrier, is a soft berry sherbet or smoothie color. And the cotton softness, really adds to that feeling of wanting to squeeze the doll for its irresistibility. In the baby carrier, Doll Rubina cradles her adorable baby. The baby is dressed in a very berry stripe, one piece outfit, topping the clothing off with a cute pink cap. And out of the cap, the baby sprouts out soft, curly yellow, chenille hair.
If you notice and look closely, the materials used to create the dolls, are top notch. You can see how strong the material is, even though the texture of it, has a soft look to it. But all of these attributes are very good, because it would need to stand up to, much love from a child. And also the washing it will need over time. Yes the doll is said to be machine washable, doll and baby together.
The doll is about 12 inches tall, and is good for children ages two years and up. The cost of the doll is $44.00. Which is very reasonable.
Do I think this doll is a collectible? I believe so. A machine washable doll is a very important commodity. But I would say, I could see this doll as being a family heirloom. This doll would last through the ages and would be one of those dolls that could be handed down from generations to generations, showing child play mileage. And with that mileage, it would have many years of love and affection mixed into it. And that would be priceless.
