Breaking news where a St. Patrick’s Day celebration later turned ugly between two sisters.
In St. Petersburg, police are investigating a shooting in which they say a woman shot her sister during an argument.
The suspect, 54, is facing charges of attempted first-degree murder after police said she shot her sister, the 55-year-old victim, during an argument.
According to St. Petersburg police, the suspect went over to her sister’s home on Second Avenue N and confronted her while armed with a handgun. Police said she then fired several shots at her sister, one of which hit her in the abdomen.
The suspect then walked to a local church on Central Avenue, where she was taken into custody without further incident.
Police said the victim was taken to Bayfront Hospital St. Petersburg, where she is currently being treated for an injury that is described as not life-threatening.
Investigators said the motive for the shooting is unclear at this time. Police said the sisters had reportedly been out drinking the previous night to celebrate St. Patrick’s Day, and that the shooting may have been a continuation of an argument that happened at the bar.
