The Tiger-Cats and Stampeders are about to hit the CFL’s biggest stage, and as usual, the list of cast and characters is nothing short of unique. But for the first time in more than a decade, Calgary slotback Nik Lewis will be playing a supporting role when the big show comes to BC Place stadium on Sunday. Despite the 11-year veteran getting less playing time these days, he’s still the heart and soul of the team.
During our interview session Lewis happily showed off his teammates, or as he likes to call them, ‘family’.One of his favourites is Rene Paredes, aka Mr. Paradise, who bravely endured a one-of-a-kind interrogation by Lewis as the cameras rolled.
You can watch the entire non-investigative interview in this video, which includes Paredes divulging information about a signature gesture known as The Matador. The video is capped off with Lewis providing Paredes with some well-intentioned but ill-advised kicking tips — which is a must-see for any football fan looking for a backstage pass to some Grey Cup fun.
